Any other movies about fans / fan culture? - Fanboys (2009) Discussion

Trekkies & Trekkies 2, Detroit Rock City, Thunderstruck, I Wanna Hold Your Hand, King of Comedy (in a twisted way). I would also argue that Rudy & Rockstar could fit that category as well since they're essentially about fans who strive to become part of what they love.

A few that have considerable fan portions are Clerks (for Star Wars), Clerks II (Star Wars fans vs. Lord of the Rings fans), Senior Trip (Star Trek), and Can't Hardly Wait (Star Wars).

I loved Simon Pegg and Nick Frost's "Paul"

Freaking funny fanboy movie that encompasses all sorts of Sci-Fi and comic book jokes in it. :o)

"Free Enterprise" is another. It's about Trekkies, but it's also about general fanboyness, with the Trekkies also being big SW nerds. I think the movie is about some Trekkies trying to meet Shatner.

I came here to post this. It's certainly not a stretch, the show's fan culture is an integral part of the story. GQ was friggin hilarious.

Free Enterprise about Star Trek and movie fans, also has Shatner. The Movie Hero is about a movie fan who believes he is in a movie and talks to his audience, it's cool, has alot of movie tidbits in it. I heard about one called 05/25/77 which is about Star Wars fans but I haven't found it yet. Also, Fade To Black about a movie fan/murderer who dresses like classic movie characters to kill people. King of Sunset strip about Rodney Bingenheimer and fan culture. Kenneth Anger's Hollywood Babylon about the dark side of Hollywood. There's a few movie's about people obsessed with Elvis, there's Murial's Wedding aboout a girl obsessed with ABBA.

if your a fan of kiss or any 70's culture you should try out Detroit rock city. it also has Sam Huntington as one of the main stars its a late 90's comedy, but its really good i recommend it.

Big Fan with Patton Oswalt is a great movie. It is NOT a movie about comics or sci-fi
It is a movie about sport fans, But it is a great look into the life of an obsessive fan.

Also Patton said that he is not really into sports but he based his performance on comic fanboys. Even though the movie is about sports, it is kind of a hard look into the life of someone obsessed with something. Great film

Well it has plenty of talking about the extended editions and going into detail about why the original trilogy was so huge a beloved. The prequel bitching is just rlly 20 minutes in the middle
