Should have been a sequel to 2004 Dawn.

I know, I know what happened, I know the story. It's not good. When I found out it was made by the same people who did Day of the Dead 2, and Creepshow 3 ... I knew this would be bad. And it was horrible. Reeked of straight to video. But, what can ya do, those people held the rights and this is what they did with them.

But, a proper Day of the Dead should have been a semi-remake of the original, and directly followed Dawn 2004. I remember when this film was announced, and Ving was first rumored to be coming back, everyone thought it would be so cool if his character was made out to be like the zombie Bub from the original. While that may have been a predictable way to go, it also would have been a million times better than this.

I think I good Day-remake would have followed the original story, the same way Dawn kept the formula of a zombie out-break that follows a group of survivors to a mall. A sequel to Dawn could have been, "On a island being used for an army base, a group of soldiers survive a zombie out-break in a bunker, where some doctors experiment with recently caught zombies." We could have seen some familiar faces (Ana, Terry, Nicole and Kenneth) as zombies, Kenneth in the Bub-like role. I almost want to say, Ana could take up a role that references Sarah from the original, but that might be really pushing it.

Anyway, That's a sequel of a remake I would have seen. And that's saying a lot because I tend not to like too many remakes.
