I remember watching the movie, and the thing that bothered me the most was how Sarah treated her brother. I remember her doing nothing but mostly treating him like garbage, and I can't recall him having any character flaws. There were no hints of being arrested, being a town delinquent, or being a black sheep to his mother.

Did the movie explain why she looked down on him, or whether it improved.

Not that I can recall. Then again I've been purposefully trying to block it out of my mind. As far as I can recall, they didn't explain it, just some tiff that went undeveloped.

Didn't seem to be a big deal to me. It was just a sister and brother who didn't get along.
