Good Movie, but stupidest cop comment ever? (spoilers)

Well, I sure liked the movie, I'm giving it a 7 (or if the grade had existed, a 6.7).

But, if anyone remembers the scene where the cop babbles about the seatbelt, I was really shocked about his stupid comment.

1. In the first place he couldn't know that the guy actually was lying in the trunk (the car is at that point being fished up in the background).
2. How can he possibly know that he didn't use his seatbelt?
3. Even if he DID use his seatbelt, it would be make sense why the seatbelt was off, because the guy was obvously not sitting there and he was missing, right? Any (sane) person would put off the seatbelt to get out of the car.

4. People, that was a serious brain-fart in the script. How could they let that go?

Another thing I noticed right off was that when Keitel picks up Alice at the soup line, and then he's warming her up in the car, he refers to her in the car as "Alice". A moment later, they are in the bar, and he asks her what her name is!?! WTF?!? Then she tells him "Alice", and then he says, "Alice?".

Were these scenes edited in the wrong order or something?

I overall liked the film, but there were definitely big problems in the script. Plus, as the previous poster said, all of the characters were pretty much unlikable.

HAHAHAHAH! I just went back and checked that scene, you are correct. In the car he clearly says "21 years serving soup. Hooray! For Alice..." and then at the bar he asks her what her name is. When she tells him, he reacts like he has never heard it before. So yes, error in the script.

Also, she seeing the boomerang was just too stupid for words. It would have been better if they had simply had him kill the wrong man, but then find out it was the wrong one in the end, or something like that. Or have the relationship not work out after she made him kill someone. Instead, they just took the boring route out and made him not dead, but not tell anyone either. How convenient. And then he just lets her kill him? Ho hum...

DD.

I'm glad someone noticed that too! There seems so many errors and a bit like the ending was trying to be clever and artistic and a bit 'out there' but just failed miserably. I only watched this movie because I like Norman Reedus and the summary sounded like it would be a good watch, but the story just got stupid from when roger and alice met again.

I think I have a bear. Yeah, I have a bear.

The whole film had an artificial feel to it, especially the dialogue. You could tell it was written by someone who had no cultural connection to the city. But it was still watchable.

I liked the first 50 percent of the movie (although, come on... Vincent's complete LACK of reaction at the death at the beginning was ridiculous.)

I felt that the whole movie fell apart after the cab got ditched in the water.
