Why can't I see the combat odds?

I just reinstalled the game and the combat odds never show up? I scroll the path of a warrior over an enemy and it shows "combat odds:" but no percentage? It doesn't matter which unit I use or who I attack.

And none of the patches seem to work on my version.

Anyone have this problem or know what to do??
