Should I bother seeing this movie?

I am not the greatest Lindsay Lohan fan but I did love Jared Leto in Requiem For A Dream. I know nothing about Lennon's murder or Mark David Chapman. I hate The Beatles but I do appreaciate what they did for the music industry. The trailer looked good enough.

Is it worth the time? Or is it not?

reply

Skip it, it's really really boring. It brings nothing to the table and personally, I think Leto's acting is obnoxious, even if portrays Mark Chapman to perfection. BORING.

Dont listen to that idiot ^^^

If you like good acting, alot of dialogue and are actually interested in the theories of "Why" Chapman killed Lennon and what he possibly did in the days leading up to December 8th, then watch it. Leto did a Brilliant performance as Chapman...

Yes, if you like Jared Leto you should definitely watch Chapter 27. I watched it last night and then again today. It's haunting. I thought Jared Leto was brilliant and he IS the entire movie. I watched it late at night and had no distractions, so maybe that is why I appreciated it so much; however, I came away terrified that people like Chapman exist. I wish that it had received more recognition because of Leto's talented portrayal.

"How or why could anybody "hate" The Beatles?"

Because they probably only know the stuff they play on the radio and have no idea that they actually created more than She Loves You and Help. It's called ignorance. Not knowing anything about his murder either? Living under a rock maybe? Yuck, I just cannot stand how lame people are anymore. More interested in a disgusting murderer than an artist who actually contributed something to society.

And the movie is a bunch of fiction. It IS sensationalistic no matter what the fans of it would like to believe. It's crap and Leto is such a hack.

The OP said they knew nothing about EITHER man...

It's a bit rich of you to claim someone is 'ignorant', when you yourself fail to use reading comprehension.

That is their opinion. Nothing wrong with that. They also qualified that remark with an appreciation of what they did for music. In the same way I can't stand Steely Dan, but can appreciate them for their meticulous studio musicianship.

Or maybe they just dont like their music... I have listen to just about everything by the beatles countless times as most my friends are huge fans and ive never been impressed. And Im willing to bet alot of what I think is amazing music you would call crap. To each his own. Opinions are just that... doesnt make anyone ignorant

Absolutely DO NOT see this ridiculous "film".......it's better if you just read everything you can on Chapman. This is worthless. Constant voice overs with Leto's sad attempt at a Georgian accent, flashbacks and flashforwards......and HE LOOKS AT THE CAMERA AT THE END OF MOVIE?!?!?!?!? It's so bad, I honestly can't imagine how it got made....

reply

It's ok, it's not gonna change your life or anything.

reply

i second that. it's worth a watch if you've got nothing better to do.

To the OP, if you enjoyed watching Jared Leto in Requiem for a Dream then you should watch this movie. I watched it last night and actually like Jared's performance. The film is not Gone with the Wind or Magnolia, but it's not meant to be. Just as some previous posters said, it's worth seeing. If not just for curiosity sake.

Watch it.

its a movie about a particular person's most private moments leading up to a heinous and terrible act. and people complain about the voice overs, but then again audiences have become too cynical and arrogant and everyone is a critic, but i personally felt that the voice overs were pretty accurate in depicting (even if fictitiously) the shifting and off-putting debates that might exist in a troubled mind.

an interesting and disturbing film.
