And some more news on it. This part sounded interesting:

"I've always felt that the werewolf is, or should be, the incarnation of the primal id—the beast within man. And if that beast was unleashed, it wouldn’t just go around devouring people—it would rape and pillage as well. So we didn’t want to shy away from that. Our beast has a strong lascivious side—and acts upon it. It might make some people a little uncomfortable, but he doesn't go through the entire film raping people, but it is part of the film—one I believe is true to the nature of the werewolf myth."

And why should werewolves do that?

reply

Well, as he explained. They don't need to do that, but it's something new and the main problem with the werewolf genre, is that much of it is the same. Something new might boost the genre a bit, and we all know it surely needs it.

Just checked out the link kindly provided by Venomly Carnage and I must say, this movie looks good. I'm into the horror genre and werewolf movies can be good, mindless films. The picture of the werewolf for this film looks like the werewolves in Cursed (good film starring Christina Ricci). Although, best werewolf film I've seen is a completely unique (to my knowledge of werewolf films) take on the idea, looking at the mental side of humans making them act like wolves. This film is Romasanta, starring Julian Sands. Highly recommended.

Not always mindless, but in overall, I agree. ;)

Really? I think they look quite different... And I won't get into Cursed.

I agree, using the 'ID' does seem interesting to say the least, it would provide for a new look into werewolf movies and I think that presents the main problem with this genre, trying to come up with something new. I've also seen Romasanta but I'm not exactly sure if I should consider that a werewolf movie or a movie about a killer who thinks he is a werewolf (and therefore a movie about lycanthropy). There is only one transformation scene in the movie and it wasn't quite clear to me whether that really happened, or if it merely took place in his mind.

Hmm intresting the guy from "An American Werewolf in London" is in this.

They say, "Evil prevails when good men fail to act." What they ought to say is, "Evil prevails."

Hi,
Ive seen Romasanta , wasnt a bad film , similiar to Brother hood of the wolf in tale but with out the "Glitz".
Big Bad wolf doesnt look bad does anyone know when its released ?
Ive seen cursed i didnt think it was as bad as reviews though.
The best werewolf film i have seen lately was Dog Soldiers

I've seen Dog Soldiers twice - once out of curiosity and once to see if it was as bad as I first thought and, surprisingly enough, it was as bad as I first thought. Each to their own, I suppose.

I took another look at the pictures of the werewolf for Big Bad Wolf and have no idea why I said it looks like the wolf from Cursed - I must've had my specs off, or not had my contacts in. That statement is retracted, it does look different.

Romasanta I'd still class as a werewolf film, despite there only being one transformation scene, which, btw, happened in his mind. It was done as a transformation scene, I believe, because a shot of his brain deciding it wants to be a wolf would probably not have been well received.
