The Spanish faction is notable. I personally prize them for the Rodelero. Though not exceptional troops, the relative speed of this heavy infantry enables them to hamper the sheer power of many of the musket based infantry units in the game, reducing them to a toe to toe match, at which Rodelero excel. They have a fairly decent amount of hitpoints, are superb against cavalry and have a damage resistance of 40%. Back them up with decent artillery such as Field Guns, and the Spanish can be considered formidable.

Nah the turks arnt good. Their best unit is the jannisary who is strong, but defeated easily by a couple of horses. The bombard is seriously over rated also.
Ottomans can attack quite early though.
The spanish have got too many units, and so all your upgrades cost loads. Russians are cheaper but also weaker. French, germans and british are probably the best. The British rockets play hell with buildings, and the french cavelry is superb. The germans have superior gathering abilities. The dutch are also quite good - they can generate their own money with banks.
For me its Britain.

i thought janissaries own horses?
and seriously the unit that everyone likes the most would have to be the skirmisher or any other type of anti-infantry unit. They own infantry so fast. Course they still get owned by artillery and they need anti-cavalry support or they die.
