I disagree. Age of Kings hammers it into the ground in every area with the sole exception of the graphics. This game is asschunks.

I think i like AOE, then AOE:Kings, Then AOE:III, then AOM THE BEST OF THEM ALL

Seriously i think that. I really didn't like AOE because it was so weird. I'd rather play warcraft or something else. I didn't like AOE:Kings because all the units r the same for every civ. except the unique units. Didn't like the fact that catapults could take out a whole group of men in one shot. Not that accurate methinks. Fun but not satisfying enough though the campaign was interesting. AOE:III was fun for the first bit especially with the physics of the game (flying ppl and marvelous ship battles) and the awesome graphics. But of course it is nothing like real life (as i am well aware this is a game not real life)and it got boring pretty easily. Didn't like some of the sacrifices made for balance such as the power of the native soldiers (in real life 20 horsemen would have laid waste to 1000 Inca soldiers), and the uselessness of cavalry (cavalry should at least be able to charge right through a thin line of muskets). Lack of easy and proper formations were also bad. If they couldn't finish making new formations then they should have just reverted back to the old ones in AOE:Kings and AOM. Also shooting issues. U march a formation of musketeers right up to an enemy and they ALL concentrate their fire on one guy. 50 guns on one guy while the rest of the screaming horde heading toward ur formation starts to engage in hand-hand battle. That is not how it works and it seriously hampers the musketeers fighting abilty. They just keep shooting one guy everytime they reload until they split up and start shooting different ppl. There needs to be a more efficient way for infantry with guns to shoot people close range. The last and best (in my opinion) is AOM. This reaslistic units and all units r unique to each of the 3 civ.(4 in exp.). Battles seem realistic and fun. The game focuses mostly on economy though unlike AOE:III. This game also has god powers where u can turn the tide of battle with the click of a button. I like this game because the creators seemed to let themselves go seeing as it was a game about mythology so they weren't too confined to realistic settings. Lots of fun playing this game because of the number of unique units and more than satisfactory graphics.

Wow, I looked back at my post 2 years ago and my English sucked ass: it's barely readable.

Anyways, yeah..the thing about the AOE:III campaign is that it wasn’t that great either. Each map was long, boring, and very robotic. The strategy was always the same no matter how you tried to change it and this left you pulling the same moves over and over again, making you wonder “when does this map end”?
Personally this whole “RTS board game” stuff is really silly to me now and I’ve moved on to the Total War series to satisfy my RTS needs. On this note, I’m going to advertise the game Empire: Total War which is sure to blow apart any standard the RTS world has made already (excluding earlier TW games).

EPIC BATTLES FTW!!!
