Anyone seen the official site? No respect to the original!

The official site has everything from a lowdown of the film's premise, to director's personal note and technical aspects. BUT IT DOESN'T EVEN *beep* MENTION OLDBOY!!!!!!!!! Sanjay Gupta is a worthless crook. That's right. A worthless crook. I mean, it's one thing to remake it without rights, not to mention without any effort of putting your own spin on it, but to not even recognize it? WHat really gets me is that the Indian audiences will eat this movie up and call Gupta a genious and an artist and all that crap, to ignoratn to realize the mastery behind it that is, OLDBOY.

Corruption is our protection. Corruption keeps us safe and warm. Corruption…is why we win.

Totally agree, ezikiel...

I was especially saddened when I read the following:

But follow this link for some (possible) relief and ray of hope...:

That indiafm.com link is really tragic.

I'm now hoping Zinda is a scene for scene copy of the original. That way Sanjay Gupta will either go bankrupt or go to jail with the lawsuit, and all the other people who rip-off shamelessly will have to think twice before trying it again.

So...as tragic as ruining Oldboy may be, I think it is a sacrifice worth making. It could stop many many other films meeting the same fate.

I already made a thread about this, but there is a problem with Zinda. According to the official website www.zindathefilm.com the plot is about a man who gets abducted while his wife his pregnant with their child. The man is locked away for fourteen years, released, and then has four days to get revenge. Consider what that means for the ending? I doubt it will have the same ending as Oldboy unless in India it is acceptable for an old guy to hook up with a high school freshman.

Hmm..I didn't know the wife is supposed to be pregnant while he is abducted. If that is the case, then probably the director has changed (read "screwed up") the story considering Indian sentiments!!! Or maybe he kept it the same and is trying to take the ending to a new extreme!

Even the narration in both the Zinda trailer and the Oldboy U.S. trailer is the same:

"Taken without warning. Held without reason."

Mr. Gupta is getting sued, no doubt.

Sanjay Gupta has screwed up the story....
Read the review on rediff.com.

A paragraph says:

Zinda is pretty much an identical twin of Oldboy. Some of the dialogues carry the same punch too. Even the weapons, Dutt's hairstyle and mannerisms of Abraham's character are lifted from the Korean film.

What Gupta has changed is the motive. The original, directed by Park Chanwook, involves incest. Perhaps he thought that would make Zinda, which is already high on aggression, impossible for the orthodox moviegoer to digest?

is it that u guys r seeing it for first time?? I mean bollywood ripping off something like this.. Well we do it all the time, not just movies but exact songs (thats called "inspired") Its like a music director goes and listens few tunes and then gets so inspired that he actually ends up copying it.. With the movie thing it is called a "tribute"! *beep* these ***holes..
I think no one has ever touched these ppl because of Indian laws (its difficult to resolve something for coupla decades) and also for the payoff.. I mean what u can get from these guys is like peanuts.. Atleast Hollywood cant take home few million rupees and then try to convert it to dollars (it would bring them to tears seeing the amount of money they spend on lawyers).. So thats why no one ever touches Indian filmmakers
