Tarkovski wind

There is a house by the Woods, and the wind blows, it rustles through the leaves, it turns the grass into a waving sea. This is not a description of Izgnanie but of Zerkalo. When watching The Banishment, I was constantly reminded of Tarkovski's The Mirror.
PS the opening shot, with the tree remaining on the same spot while the perspective was changing, was so intriguing that I couldn't but continue to watch, in spite of finding the story and character development rather disapointing.

I too felt Zerkalo popping up in my head a lot of times while viewing Izgnanie. But it ain't a bad thing at all, both great movies each in its own way.

I had Ivan's Childhood on my mind during the scene in which Alexander and Vera are having conversation in the woods. Pretty much similar to one soldier and girl had in birch forest in Tarkovsky's film.

Whole of the atmosphere, the house, the surrounding made me think of Sacrifice. And there's even Swedish actress involved...
