Am I the only one to think Dane Cook aint funny.

When Dane says his jokes and stuff i dont think its funny and everyone who laughs i think is imature

reply

Dude, you have to be crazy not to think he's funny!

reply

Dane Cook is a freakin moron.

Don't be so suburban...

reply

I personally think he's hilarious.

he is an above average observational comedian. but, his shtick is tired and overplayed. I've seen ameturs copy it easily all the time. all he does is move alot, quickly makes decent sound effects, and emphasis a few words so dumb ppl know when to laugh, kinda like carlos mencia or the guys on telemundo. And now that everywhere i go i hear how girls want to marry him "cuz he soooo gorgeous!! omgee" it makes a little red flag go up in my head that tells me we will look back on this craze 10 years for now and shrug. like ppl who liked the backstreet boys, gallagher, carrot top, and limp bizkit.

Lewis black, on the other hand, is a very good stand-up comedian with out sex appeal and gimmicks, and (beyond his sometimes uncontrollable shaking from rage) does not employ physical comedy as much as dane cook.

reply

I agree fully.

reply

Stay off Limp Bizkit dude;)

All your base are belong to us. There is no mainstream.

reply

*beep* limp bizkit. thats all i wanted to say

reply

All your base are belong to us. What does that mean? I've seen it somewhere before?

reply

Google is your friend, sir.

All your base are belong to us. There is no mainstream.

I think Crimson Viper covers everything that I wanted to say....well, except that I don't consider Dane Cook to be "above average." He's not terrible. I'm a big stand-up fan, and have seen much worse comedians than him. But I deeply wish that people would stop viewing him as this generation's George Carlin. I think the fact that he's one of the few comedians who women can actually fantasize about without blowing chunks has something to do with his popularity. Women can finally say, "See? I told you I like a guy with a good sense of humor." I like the classify this generation as the A.D.D. generation. Young people spend less time reading and more time playing video games and engaging in other cerebrally devoid activities. So watching a comedian like Dane Cook who simply leaps around stage, mugging and doing crazy voices makes most young people roar with laughter...because it involves no thinking! On the other hand, watching a intelligent, witty comedian like Lewis Black doesn't appeal to most young people. I'm an exception, of course. I love Lewis Black. He has more talent in his left eye than Dane Cook will ever have. I always say comedy is played best by comedians who don't appear like they're trying to be funny. Black is angry, irritable, and never cracks a smile. That's how to do comedy!

reply

Lewis Black sucks - badly.
Regardless of what you think of Dane Cook, Lewis Black is an idiot.

reply

He is so not funny
There are far more funnier than he. I like the description I have heard that he is the idiot's comedian as opposed to sophisticated comedian.

Same thing we do every night try to take over the world

reply

Dane Cook is a gimmick in himself. Gimmicks suck...
Yeah, Nick Swardson is WAY better

reply

Nick Swardson is totally better. Gramma's boy and the Benchwarmers vs. what, Employee of the Month? Let's even forget movies for a moment, the standup is NO CONTEST! I completely agree.

reply

Why would I

reply

I would have to agree on that Dane Cook simply isn't funny. His moments that come even remotely close to funny are just when he takes bizarre news headline and tells them. Which technically isn't original material.

reply

I don't find him all that amusing either - Chris Porter is much funnier.

reply

read his profile's forum

reply

I don't think he is funny either.

reply

Hes a little overrated but hes still one of the best.

reply

growing up catholic i enjoy is stuff about church find it super relatable. but other that a lot of what people find funny is him talking weird and making randon refrances i.e. like "family guy". if you want to see more dane cook bashing watch x-play on g4. they do it regulary (they even have Cousteau doing it).

reply

they bash everyone. they even bash themselves. even when brokeback mountain came out (which i watched and enjoyed. the ending made me cry) it was at least 4 months before they stopped bashing it. and then, after a few months of silence, they made a 'heath ledger in the mountains' joke.

the show sucks, and so does G4. the only reason i watch the channel, is because i do enjoy the reviews. they are thorough and usually funny. it's when they talk out of the reviews that they're just annoying.

reply

[deleted]

i love x-play!

reply

Chris Porter!?!?!? Come on. Be serious. Chris Porter is a douche ex-hippie wanna be, and he was on last comic standing. Enough said.

reply

He is funny but you get tired of him fast he carries on jokes way to long he is like carrot top

reply

Im not a big fan. Hes pretty overrated. i myself think Nick Swardson is way better.

When he was on Saturday Night live I didn’t even know who the hell he was. He isn’t funny at all!! I have since seen a couple of his stand up gigs and he was not at all funny to me, but I think he will probably end up being the next Jim Carry. Jim Carry was never really funny at doing stand up, but can still be funny in movies. He seemed to get funnier with time. Maybe you just have to get used to his brand of humor, because obviously a lot of people think he is very funny.

reply

[deleted]

I thought he was funny, until I saw him shove a bucket of his own feces under another comic's face on that tour show on HBO. That was sick, and not in a funny way. I was hoping the other guy would kick him in the cojones.

reply

to deathaquatic he had like 5 lines in the whole movie so who can u call him a bad actor

reply

[deleted]

swardson sucks Dane Cook is the funniest he is meant to make kids laugh mostly but sum childish adults

People just think Dane Cook isn't funny because everyone likes him. The more popular you are the more people who like you are labeled immature.

That is VERY true. I also think that the people who weren't on the Dane Cook 'bandwagon' from the start of his popularity kinda feel left out- and then start hating.

reply

or maybe because a lot of people are content with comedy that doesn't have a point of view or are too useless to breathe a single breath of air that hasn't been tainted by advertising or hype. The same people that "love" dane cook are the same people that sit around and laugh at people failing on American Idol, when really your the moron watching it all happen. My life is free of bandwagons, the fact that you admit to them is very sad, and i feel bad for you. You are a useless tool of advertisings "target market".

reply

I think Dane Cook is obnoxious and not funny.

I do think people who truly believe they are talented singers and have been lied to their entire lives by their families are fodder for my entertainment. Those idiots on American Idol are hilarious.

That being said, I'm betting there's something you enjoy that is considered popular or mainstream. Enjoying something doesn't have to mean subscribing to bandwagons or being a tool.

Step down from the soapbox for a minute and be real.

reply

*beep* that i love dane cook, he is easily one of my favorites, dave attell being the only man funnier, but i despise american idol that *beep* is not funny, and also to the other people saying his comedy has no point, how does that work? he is a story teller and he is telling stories, it's not like a television show where you stick to one subject, he moves onto other ones, any comedian does that, and also i don't know how it's immature to like dane cook, i mean if it's immature to laugh and funny *beep* then i guess i'm immature

reply

"Ain't" is a word, you can find it in most dictionaries.

PROCREATE, DON'T PLAYA HATE!

reply

Aint isn't a word, it's slang
also Dane Cook is terrible, Demetri Martin is way funnier, just search for comedy central presents on google video and it should be the first one.
Also if you want some classic comedy listen to George Carlin's A Place For My Stuff.

reply

Then let's change the name of Weezer's song "Say It Ain't So" to satisfy English language prescriptivists. While we are at it, why don't we also change the name of "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet" to satisfy the same crowd. Then let's obliterate the word out of every country song I have ever heard in my life. Life just doesn't seem as fun anymore, without the use of the word "ain't."

reply

He's kind of entertaining, but he's not funny.

He's defenitly not torture like say, Rita Rudner, who is unfunny, not entertaining, and needs to get laid in the butt.

reply

i personally don't find him all that funny, very overated most people taht like him r very young n base their liking of him on his appearance rather than material. honestly I kno alotta rock girls I kno love him cuz they think he's hot...

reply

The only prob with Tourgasm was Dane Cook. Bob Kelly is hilarious in person.

reply

I think anyone who doesn't think Dane Cook is funny should be punched in the face.... hard.

reply

Hes a pretty funny guy. But way too overrated.

reply

He's to comedy what boy bands are to music.

reply

I think he has his moments but I don't think he's groundbreaking like everyone is making him out to be.

That's probably the best description I've heard.

reply

I would have gone with stabbed in the jaw, lol

"you can't stop the aging process, but you can always be immature"

reply

gosh i thought i was the only one who didnt like Cook (actually i do like his albums but his standup is weak) IMHO the best comics working today are Doug Stanhope and David Cross........the best comics always turn out to be very intelligent when they are serious...and these two are excellent examples of that
