Scariest Moment

I was jus wondering what people thought the scariest part of this game was, mine was a bit in the vents where alma (is that her name) is like running towards u like a dog sorta that scared the hell out of me

reply

Mine was at the start, I didn't know anything about the game so after the four people your with when trying to open a gate get killed, I was like "What the hell?!" But the bit that...(and this is gonna make you laugh)... the bit that BROKE MY MOUSE, was when your walking towards a slightly open roof door or something, and see a man walk past, which freaked me out, but then I open the door and walk out which is when Paxton Fettle lunges at you with a plank of wood or something! He just came out of no where, scared the hell outta me, had my speakers on loud sitting in the dark, made me jump so bad, I clenched my hand, still holding my mouse it went up with me and I slammed it back down on the desk braking it lol!

Apart from that, the only other bits that would scare me like that is about EVERY time Alma would appear or I heard a little girl laughing/crying... Little girl ghosts really creep me out *looks around the room quickly with shifty eyes*

In Extraction Point, I'm wandering the hospital, right? So I'm heading down a corridor towards the nursery when I see the ghost of a nurse standing at the window around the corner. I go over and as soon as I get close, BAM! she slams her head against the glass, leaving a big patch of blood. I must've put half a mag from my G2A2 into the window, I was so scared.

Not to mention the countless appearances of Alma.

"A Ghost! And it's not even Halloween!"

reply

LMAO I remember that, I saw the nurse as I was walking round the corner I KNEW she was going to do that thou, so I was prepared this time lol!

Near towards the end I'm in the subway and the lights start to go out, getting darker n darker n I see Alma, older style, and she's in the distance, then the lights flicker and she's right next to me I jumped up in my seat and banged my knees under the desk lol!!

The part with Alma in the vent system was the scariest in the whole game for me. Another scary part was right before you fight Alma, when you see her walking towards the guy in the room and then his head explodes.

My mind called me but I forgot to pick up. http://www.myspace.com/darkalessa

Definitely during the office level. I thought I heard radio chatter coming from one of the cubicles so I quickly turn and laugh maniacally as I prepare to blast him away, then Alma quickly scours across the ground. I leaped out of my seat and spilled my coke.

reply

Yeah, when Fettel came out with the plank, I screamed so *beep* loud I scared my mom and my friend who I was talking to on XB Live.

that fettel bit scared me too haha :D mum came up to check if I was ok cos I cried out lol

another bit was when your in like the hallucination hospital thing and young alma is walking toward you, flickers and is oler alma, then young then old then older alma scurries toward youlike a dog :S its eeeeeevil I tell y a

I believe that whatever does't kill you simply makes you...stranger - The Joker

I didn't get that scared by the allhucination parts (being a fan of Silent Hill, when you played that, you can deal with everything). I thought the parts where u see the hospital flooded with blood were cool, they should make the whole game like that.

The part where I've got frightened was when the invisible ninjas popped out for the first time, I was like "WTF is going on? what is this $h!t? Oh! Invisible guys with no weapons?...activate the sloMo mode and...KILL! KILL! KILL!". If you activate the SloMo in time they don't pose that much of a threat

KABOOM KABOOM MUAHAHAHA!

Mine was actually the live-action prequel, the part where dr. Green was starting to freak out and her head went unstable, that part gave me dreams. Serious stuff.

I heard there were versions were they didn't get the bonus features, so for those of you who're thinking "wtf is he talking about", here's the vid:

For me the scariest part is right after you shut off the fire alarm, and then you hear the evil radio stuff, and then BOOM alma pops up outside the window. At first me and my friend were laughing at how she was just standing there, but then i killed my self a few minutes later, and had to go back to the fire alarm stuff, i was looking right at her when i left the little room, and i saw her walking right. toward.me.,and for some weird reason me and my friend both almost crapped ourselves at that. I guess it was how she moves that did it. But the part with her in the vents made me empty about a mag of shotgun ammo before i finally realized it was a vision. Also, later, we were playing when, out of the corner of my eye, i saw a girl with dark hair and a red shirt run past my window. After the customary pants crapping, we found out it was my neighbor going across my yard. And there is an uncanny resemblance.........

THIS..... IS..........CAKETOWN!!!!

Everytime the invisible soldiers got me, a couple parts with Alma popping out especially at the office trying to look for Alice Wade. Annnnnd, I guess anything that basically popped out at me.

I wasn't bothered by anything that was intentionally scary.

Almost had a heart attack when I unknowingly kicked over a soda can though...

The only scary part i thought was in the ist interval when Fettel hits with that wooden plank.

Which interval was the alma in vents , or running like dog. I just finished the game but did not come across it.

Honestly the scariest bit for me was right near the end. You've just started encountering those phantom things and you come to the catwalk that overlooks that empty space lit by the moon.

Now, I already didn't want to go down there cause I knew something bad was gonna happen, but since my shotgun key (as always) didn't work on the door at the other end of the catwalk, I jumped down anyway. Then those phantoms came out at me in a horde.

Now that part itself wasn't all that bad, I was expecting that. What I 'did not' expect was when you kill the last one and the friggin' skylights explode inward.

Yeah, that caused me to yell out, I almost fell out of the chair. xD

reply

remember when you're on the catwalk and when you get on the ladder, you suddenly realize alma was standing a couple feet behind you...?

... yeah, at that exact moment, my entire block lost power. my computer and the street lights outside my window turned off, and even the air conditioning shut down. i found myself sitting in complete darkness and silence.
after a couple moments, i heard a scream come through my wall. i guess my neighbor must have hurt himself stumbling through the dark.
it was rather horrific. i had a very uneasy feeling going to sleep that night.

Recently, it was after Fettel had Alice and there was a illusion of Alice in a pool of blood. Afterwards I looked in an elevator and saw Alma, and you can say I pretty much freaked out.

Trust your hunches. They're usually based on facts filed away just below the conscious level.

reply

1.) When your on the catwalk and turn around to go down the ladder, and Alma is standing right behind you

2.) The part when your in the vent and Alma crawls around the corner.

3.) The elevator part. When the lights go out, and then turn on for a few seconds and Alma is standing in the corner. Then they go out. I just turned my flashlight on right after that and started looking around the elevator.

4.) Definately when the guy (I don't remember his name) is sitting in a cell, and you look in there and one of Alma's "nightmares" pops up right in the window.

5.) Definately the whole hospital vision when the blood is on the ceiling( along with Alma)

6.) The security monitor part. Hands down. Your watching the monitor and you see Fettel walking through the halls, then Alma's face just slowly appears on the screen.

I never understood the whole thing with Alma's different forms though. I mean, she was 15 when she gave birth to Point Man and Fettel. Why does she appear in her 8 year old form then? Is it an illusion, or can she switch ages at will?

"Do you have ADHD?"
"No I do not have ADH OOH LOOK A SQUIRREL!"

reply

I'm with the ladder scene, I wasted quite a few shotgun rounds for the next 30 seconds. The vent-crawling's an easy second, of course.

Definately the part where you are escorting Ms. Wade down the elevator & you have to leave to turn it on.

Then once you hit the switch to power the elevator, you see Alma in the elevator walking slowly to Ms. Wade & you know there's no way to get back to her in time.

Scared me because I really wanted Ms. Wade to make it.

I always took it as the two times she was let out of the vault. Eight the first time, fifteen the second.

In the ending part the mouse was "jumping" and we somehow lost orientation, turned around and had the biggest close-up of angry Alma attacking us from behind...I jumped and rolled backwards with my office chair, screaming. My mate didn't shoot at her either, he was too busy laughing at me...

But the really scary part was that room with the radio playing non stop crazy J-Pop...and when you finally leave the hysterical singing follows you, softly interweaved in the background sounds. Whoa!

The scariest moment for me was when I'd been playing for 2 hours and the game crashed and I realised I hadn't saved.

Other honourable mentions are, Alma doing the crab walk, Alma stood at the top of the ladder when you turn around to go down it, something crashing through the window in one of the corridors just as you turn to go down it and the first time you bump into those leather clad, ninja demons.

The random figures wandering about are unnerving at first too, kind of reminiscent of Amnesia: The Dark Descent, but once you get used to them they're nothing.
