oh my god this movie is soooo bad! how can it even get a score of 8? i have seen the original version 12 angry men long time ago and it is easily a hundred times better. make that a thousand! i got bored half an hour through the remake and i seriously recommend people to download this movie rather than pay to watch it as it is just a waste of money and more importantly time!
Never give such stupid advices. If I have followed your recommendation, I would have missed this great film. If you didn't 'get' it, please don't show your ignorance, be honest and just say: 'It's not my cup of tea, but at least i gave it a try'. Nobody said you should like all great movies, some of them are just way above your level.
"LOL"? Don't be a tool. You can't take people seriously because they don't bother to check their spelling? Did you ever think that the reason he didn't check his spelling is because he doesn't take you seriously, not the other way around? Even if that wasn't the case, you are really making an argument that because someone doesn't check their grammar or spelling that they are beneath you? Besides, your writing is imperfect anyways, just recheck what you wrote and no I'm not talking about spelling. Anyways, that's fine that you thought the original 12 angry men was great, but uh, give the movie a full screening before you pass judgment and tell people what they should be doing with their time. I, for one, already have a time accountant that does that for me *sarcasm*.
I've just watched that movie and I gave this movie 9 stars, because she deserves it, and if you are blind and you don't see that, then is your problem, but you don't have the right to speak awful comments for a movie that the majority of cinemaniacs around the world find her so good. :PP
PS: I didn't see the original and i don't want too, because i know that can't be so brilliant movie than this movie!
you're in no position to judge whether its positively or negatively in regards to this movie cos u have not seen both sides of the story i.e the original.
hence i'm not even gonna waste my time debating with u. don't waste our time talking about me having no rights to speak "awful comments when u yourself don't possess the right to begin with.
here in American we DO "have the right to speak awful comments for a movie that the majority of" others think is very good. In fact, that's part of what this whole website is about -- reviewing movies, for good or bad. And giving our own opinions. In fact, that's what this whole movie was about to a small degree, the importance of different opinions.
I agree some reviews are pretty strong -- like mine was against inception which I thought was horrible.
I liked "12." It had some flaws, I think. But overall, I thought it was a very interesting look at modern-day Russia, and I loved the ending. I think it could have been edited down to be a bit shorter, but there are worse flaws a movie could have.
C'mon, be a little bit objective here. This film has strong positive message. The right message. It's not pointless sh*t like Spiderman 3. Respect people for trying bring something good to life.
The "positive", even "right message" isn't enough. The editing is chaotic and raw, the "characters" and their behaviour are desperately unnatural and clownish. I was born and raised in Russia, so I can tell you confidently that these humanlike shadows don't remind the Russian people even remotely. And, like the most of the Mikhalkov's films, this one is terribly overlong and overloaded with unnessesary details.
Feel free to correct my spelling, but don't prevent me of expressing my opinion about the matter.
What a pest... 1) there is no difference between Russians and non-Russians 2) the ghosts who populate this movie are the pitiful product of Mikhalkov's poor imagination - all of them.
Concerning the message, I can't agree with you about it's "positiveness". What the hell is going here? The prophet-like figure of #12 (Mikhalkov in all his glory) votes the Chechen boy guilty for he (#12) supposes that the prison is a safe place for a boy (!!!!). And as it isn't enough, #12 adopts the boy. OMG!!! The Paternal (read: patronizing) Russian takes care of his Younger Brother Chechen! Clear echo of a White Man's Burden. Repulsive.
It's better to be in prison than to be dead, that's #12's logic. Also he wasn't going to adopt this young adult (can't call him boy), just to hide him somewhere till the end of trial. As a good rich man, he can do it (yes, there are still good men on Earth).
Yes, but the (few) scenes in Chechnya were actually very well-done. And really there's a PLENTY of FAR more racist Russian films, not to mention zero realism and laughable production values (retarded action flicks, supposed "war films" - amazing stuff on par with Delta Force / Missing in Action or Green Berets at best and some actually even much worse) on the subject, this one is pretty mild actually. Video related: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J11HcbEHZFQ and notice how almost everyone gave it "thumbs up" somehow.
Oh and yeah, in prison the boy would be tortured by guards and inmates and likely killed. But anyway.
