if kareena was good in this role, then a good actress would have been brilliant. as kareena is bollywood's worst, think of how good another actress would have done. it was rumoured that shilpa shetty was to play the part and i think shilpa would have been fantastic. so if kareena was good, a good actress would have been great!

Keeping in mind the requirement of role, at least I can’t think about anyone else other than Kareena. I think they chose the best and no doubt she justifies her selection. Shilpa and Kajol are good actresses but they are not someone who looks beautiful even without makeup.

And Kareena does? ewwwwwwwwww! With makeup or without makeup, Kareena always looks like a shemale! Kajol didn't look so bad without makeup in KKHH neither does Shilpa. Anyway, the ideal choice is Kajol!

Desdemona is supposed to be beautiful Kareena kapoor looks like a puffa fish and has the acting ability of one, she was terrible! she looked especially bad in her scenes with Konkona Sen Sharma (Who was amazing). Kajol although beautiful and a great actress was too old for the part but at least would have made the central conceit of the play (Jealousy) a believable one.
well i have not read athello but my impresion of storyline is that fmeamale character have looks which signify that she can also cheat and cheat a bigtime like kareena does with her father and later omkara supects her of same once agian.
I guess kareena was perfect from this point of view.
I think Kareena's sister would have been better. But Kareena with "no makeup" look got away with the roll. She looks terrible with make up....whats up with that?
