'Beedi' and Alka Yagnik

Apparently Alka Yagnik made some snide comments after Sunidhi Chauhan won the Filmfare award for singing 'Beedi'. Does anyone know what she said?

I think what happened was that Alka later won some award and said that her award was a dedication to people who get famous by singing 'Beedi' kind of songs (a dig on Sunidhi of course). She said in an interview that she doesn't like songs sung in husky and seductive voices.

Well I prefer the 'husky' and 'seductive' voice to her many-times shrieky voice.

Yes after Sunidhi won the Filmfare, Alka won the Zee award for the song "Tumhi Dekho Na" from KANK. Apparently she expected to win the award (she really deserved the award as she performed it beautifully). But her claim while giving the speech was not against Sunidhi whatsoever. She talked about the new era of songs in Bollywood because of which the film industry was losing its uniqueness as, according to her, the melodious songs were replaced by modern, loud and westernised songs which assimilated the soft and melodious Hindi film music of the previous decades. I agree with her in principle as the music has really changed drastically and while many songs are great and certain composers keep creating songs of this sort, most of them are forgettable. Anyway, I like both Alka and Sunidhi. Both have beautiful voices and their own singing styles. I think Shreya follows the style of Lata and Alka and Sunidhi the style of Asha, though all of them have experimented with all the possible genres.
