Saif Ali Khan Show?

Well not really dominate screen, but I am willing to bet some serious tangibles that Saif would come out a winner, the best of actors, a memorable performance in this one. So we are almost into the release and I will try not to put my mouth in my shoe. Let's see why

1.For start he is playing Iago, perhaps one of the most remarkable villains for shades of emotion. More so, here the Villain dictates the outcome of the story. 2.Saif is on a roll, he is in the zone, he's willing to do anything to disassociate himself from his mid career mediocrities. 3.His getup, I mean cutting your hair in Bollywood is like killing your babies. I know just cutting hair doesn't mean a thing, but it shows Actor's commitment how much he is willing to embed himself in the script.

I think since Dil Chahta Hai he's shown that he is one Indian actor who is ready to imply world standards to his approach and methods. His work ethics have been fantastic. I respect him for that. Same goes for Vishal Bharadwaj, I wish both remarkable Men of Modern hindi cinema luck and wish they make the light in "Indian Cinema" Brighter.

Seems like review on the home page validates what I have been saying. Hehe...

You have my vote for this. Just saw the movie and Saif is a hands down winner. He is a good good performer. I can't forget his memorable roles in Ek hasina thi, Hum Tum, Dil chahta hai, Parineeta and now Omkara. He to my assesment is a much better actor than Shahrukh Khan.

of course he's a better actor than shahruhk khan. do people really think SRK is a great actor when they look past that certain charm he has? i hope not. anyway, i think a more appropriate person to compare saif to would be aamir khan. i think saif is very close to reaching the same level of aamir in terms of acting ability.

Awards and Bollywood are a dodgy business. I am sure it's a genre in its own which Madhur Bhandarkar can explore. I think Saif is getting almost an unanimous vote from most astute movie lovers and I think thats biggest award for him. His status has increased, he is now locked with Aamir Khan at the top. He is by far the most versatile actor we have. What more could he ask for?

Personally I think Langda Tyagi is the most inspired performance since Paresh Rawal's Sardar. In between I can't think of any actor getting in the soul of a character like this. Langda is a bit of Jack Sparrow and Bill the Butcher at the same time, which means quality. The best thing was, for the entire movie Saif killed himself to become Langda. When he called SMS "assum kar dena" in Car with Omi that sealed it for him.

The general wisdom in Bollywood is to be yourself. People appreciate certain mannerism and as an actor you incorporate that in your role. No one dares to become the character. Bachchan and SRK are exceptional at this. They will always be themselves in that character. It would be that character becomes them than otherwise, if you know what I mean.

Saif has broken that, to be honest even Aamir Khan falls in trap for this at many times. In between Cyrus, Shekhar and Ishwar Tyagi there are too many colors on display, instead of various shades of blue.

Well said, enjoyed your comments.

Other inspired performances from Vishal's films worthy of mention:
Irfan Khan - Maqbool
Pankaj Kapur - Maqbool

What you've said is very true. Usually the actors in Bollywood shroud the character with their own persona, trying to maintain a style as a common thread connecting all their films. This is done in the hopes that loyal fans will come to watch a film, if not for the film itself, for that image the actor has created. The strategy has more or less succeeded, creating many stars. And this phenomenon is not just limited to Bollywood - probably Cary Grant in Hollywood was the first to start this trend.

It takes immense courage for established stars to break the mould and completely lose their identity in that of a character. But Saif has, to a great extent, managed to do just that which is laudable.

Yup watched the movie today. And whenever Saif was on screen it was delight. I felt myself craving for his next appearance on screen. This has to be his best work till now. The best, right there on the number on spot.

Now i am not ashamed to say that Saif is a National Award winner. Truly brilliant piece of acting.
