Working time

Bipasha tells one of her subordinstes - 'once you get involved in corporate life, you will have no time for family'.

Sadly it applies to many of the corporate execs.

That is because if the ineffecient way of working in many of our cos. There is tooo much of duplication and fault finding. Rather than finding out if a subordinate has delivered the needed result many bosses get ivnovled into micro level details themselves and keep suggesting. The saying of the peons is very true in the movie ' Ek aadmi ka kaam 60 log karte hain!"

In Europe and America, even the directors do not put in long working hours and they frequently take off vacations enjoying Skiing and sunbathuing. This because there is no duplication of work and the top guys know how to delegate properly and keep a good track instead of getting bogged down into details themselves.

As far as executives working in American film companies are concerned, they too are inefficient. Their numbers & influence have grown, resulting in damaging meddling. I'm not saying that with them out of the way, every venture will be a masterpiece, but their grade would certainly increase by a plus.

Well, i actually meant English execs and assumed that Yankees would be not very different - you say they are more like indians. So, i change my statement to 'Brit Execs'. Among them too, many are micro managers, but more are good delegators.

i was actually comparing American and European MNCs in India with Jap and Korean ones. The whites just occupy one or 2 key positions and leave the rest to locals, where as the yellows keep a substatial share of management to themselves.

In India too NRN speaks on the virtues of timed but effecient working (though some infians say it is not in practice in infy too) wherea s Azim Premji Boasts of an 80 hour week.
