the glaring error in the ages?
If Neve Campbell (aged about 25, say) is Mischa/Shirley McLaine's daughter. How is she so young? Mischa is in her early 20s as the war starts. That would make her in her late 80s. How does she have a daughter Neve Campbell's age? Duuhhh!
If they are that cavalier with such an obvious plot hole, how good can the rest of the movie possibly be?
Story takes place int he early 90's. They did not have Marie until Ethel was in her mid thirties.
Ethel Ann was born in 1922.
She didn't have Marie until at least 1957. The film takes place in 1993. So Neve Cambell is in her early to mid tirties in the film which makes sense.

1959 - Marie is born (Ethel Ann is 36)
1991 - Ethel Ann is 68 and Marie is 32
Shirley MacLaine (Ethel Ann) was actually 73 and Neve Campbell (Marie) was 34 when the film was released.
Even Jimmy notes that Marie is "too young to be his daughter". Even though the timeline works, I'm still with you, sc_taylor. It doesn't work for me. Marie seemed to me to be in her twenties.

Jimmy was talking about Teddy. He says she is too young to be Teddy's daughter. (Who died 50 years ago).
