Oh goodness I saw the promo for 'daisy becomes a rap star'

and i couldn't believe they were serious!!!

Who on earth would think it's funny that a white person is rapping?
Not only is it ignorant, but so rife with silly stereotypes!

she is standing around a bunch of hoodlum looking people and she is rapping while posturing like a complete idiot and this is funny!!!!?!?!?!!!?

why is it funny because whites aren't suppose to rap? or only blacks should rap? UGGGGGGGHHHHHH sterotypes like that are so stupid.

This show is ludicrous, start the cancellation pool now.................

While some people would tell you to lighten up, I am not one of them. I agree with you 100%. The commercial that you are referencing is ladened with stereotypes. I could get with it if it were a serious exploration of racial stereotypes, but you know it isn't. Isn't it amazing that we alledgedly have come so far as a society, but that it's still okay to stereotype one another? Sadly enough, it'll never end.

Correction: It's OK to stereotype, as long as it's American's you're sterotyping! Don't forget the is the BELOVED 'reality' of TV we're talking about here!!!!

Somebody is stereotypical....and I think it's name is blackskinisasin.
It's a bloody television show for pete's sake. Get the F*@k over it.

Last time I checked, sterotypes are based on reality. What did you expect? You think that rap was rooted in Harvard educated well off black people? Good Lord! If she was going to learn how to rap, she has to go to the place where rap music would be prevalant. Just like last week when she was learning to be a country singer. She went to the most stereotypical, hillbilly, redneck places to learn about a country singers life and music. From that she derived a silly country song, which isn't too far off of what country singers sing about. And in her rendition of "I Touch Myself" included styles and techniques of what she perceived country music to be. It's just poking fun at it.

So why not rap music? For some reason the thug life has been a new thing for even whites. Tons of whites listen to the most ghetto music and the term ghettofabulous is out there too. Even though it's making fun of the lifestlye, at the sametime it seems to be the thing to do....

And the whole premise of the show is that Daisy is an observer of American culture. What she's really doing is poking fun at how dumb Americans are by being so obsessed with pop culture and she does a good job at that in this silly show.

So you all should just relax. If you don't like it, don't watch it.

Thanks cube - She's not only an observer of US culture, but she allows herself to become a part of it at her own expense.

Don't just think of this just as a comedy, but as a social experiment.

How many of you could endear yourselves to hillbillies and Compton rappers as a white British chic? (granted there are cameras there). She's about the polar opposite of the dude that travels around in his RV and explores all sorts of nooks & crannies of the US and interacts, writes books and embraces the multiplicity of this country (she did the Touch Myself thing with that kid). Which is incredibly interesting.

I've spent time around and within groups of various social, racial and geographical diversity and have been educated by one and all. I've also found that there are always humorous and/or awkward faux pas' involved. I choose to look at Daisy's show in this same way.

And God forbid I even say it, but its todays TV ready form of Gonzo Journalism.
