I want to punch her face in

Does anyone actually watch this crap? It pretty painful. I feel so strongly about this that I had to make a new topic about my hatred for this show.

reply

It hurts when you watch it ...

While switching through channels the other night I came across this witless unfunny mess once again. The premise for the evening was that she wanted to be a poker player. When no laughs were to be had by her making moon-faces at the camera as she lost a few hands, she announced that she would marry a gambler-millionaire. To find one she began to ask various men what kind of car they had. As most American men have cars, and this English dope has no idea of the differences between them, there were no laughs here either. Desperate, she began to ask them for some reason if they had a "shark" (apparently as some indication of wealth). In her accent, of course, it is pronounced "shahk" (to American ears "shock"). So now what passes for humor on the show is a dopey English woman approaching various men with a camera crew in tow and watching their reactions to her asking if they have a "shock". It was pitiful, and she is pathetic.

reply

I want to punch her in the face too.

so, how do you guys actually say shark then? i mean, if you dont understand her when she says shark, cause in your accent it sounds exactly like shock, how do you ever work out the difference between sharks and um, shocks? heres a thought, use your brains and work it out from the context?

reply

You can tell the difference between shark and shock, by listening for an R.

she's funny as hell...you guys r just angry at her for poking fun, but learn to chillout sometimes...humour comes from all over the place

reply

i doubt TBS is going to blow any more money on this sinking ship.
Sorry, daisy... go back to england where your lame humor is appreciated.

reply

So the "R" is silent then (without stupidly exaggerating the letter R as Brits do when imitating Americans...sound like nasally pirates)? Not true - I know people
from Oxfordshire and Wiltshire who CAN pronounce their R's properly.
She's just sounds working class and ghetto.

Come to think of this most people are silent when subjected to this tripe.

reply

I guess the Brits have never heard Australians say "Shark" there's little difference to how Brits say it.

Perhaps Ausies do annunciate a bit better than Brits.
Ohh they won't like that.

reply

Maybe so, but at least we know how to pronounce the words "semi" and "route"
to name just 2, whilst also knowing how to correctly spell "colour".

I don't get it, you claim it's too in your face but then say Brits would prefer it. Surely residents of USA are more into the slapstick comedy as they don't actually have to use a brain cell to actively decode the characters?

reply

As a Brit I'd just like to defend our pronounciation! The reason americans mishear Shark as Shock is because Americans mispronounce both words. Simple as that :D (thats a joke before I start getting hate-mail!)

Anyway, it's a pity Daisy has gone to America, her offbeat improvised humour was appreciated here. Unfortunately I haven't seen this new show of hers yet, but I expect it'll appear on our TV screens soon enough and perhaps it will do well.

As for people finding it offensive, perhaps thats a cultural difference? Here we poke fun at everyone and everything, including ourselves, and it rarely causes offense. The absurditys of life are entertaining, and there is currently a cottage industry in poking fun at our friends across the atlantic - Louis Theroux, Sascha Baron Cohen and Daisy Donovan have all been across and done what they've done for years here with much success. They've hopped across to the USA because, firstly they're too well recognised here to succeed, and secondly there is just as much to poke fun at in the US as there is here in the UK. Perhaps everyone should stop taking comedy and themselves so seriously and enjoy the silly world we live in.

(P.S. Then again she could just be crap and going too far.)

I think you are crazy! I absolutely LOVED this show, finally some real situational humor that you could actually see yourself doing. How many times have you been with your friends and said "we should..." well the thing that's so friggin' hilarious is that Daisy DOES! She is sraight faced to the point of busting a gut. You people who disagree just need to understand that not everyone likes canned laughter and 1/2 hour blurbs of predictable writing. I'll say it again "I LOVED IT"!!

reply

I agree with justice.
I think she is hilarious.
But also to the original poster and people who agree, I don't understand why does anyone actually hate her so much that they would want to punch her in her face? I think that is pretty cruel.

reply

Anyone notice the similarities?
