This movie was the most insipid, brain-numbing experience I have ever had the misfortune of watching.

Well, Dakota Fanning's "attempts" at being emotional are equal to those of grown actresses three times her age. If you don't like touchy-feely horse movies, which is understandable, DON'T WATCH THEM.
