Mistake killing him off

Watching for the first time and just beginning series 4.

Anyway, I think it was a mistake ending Chris Morris' character. He was brilliant.

Anyone agree?

yah i think douglas is hilarious too but denholm reynholm was just too funny.

like when richmond is trying to console denholms mother after the father died, and his face is just frozen in anger lmao.

Plus when he is "rehiring" richmond and changes his mind after richmond takes denholms suggestion and calls him Denholm instead of mr reynholm.

Or the scene where he suicides.

"i am the greatest person, in the world." - reynholm

or with the balloon labeled jens piece of mind

finding the stress machine that was inside of an unlabeled briefcase without even looking at it.

im basically just thinking of the episodes he was in and listing his scenes. They really are all great though.

totally agree.

the replacement boss just ruined the show. he is completely unfunny...

I guess Chris was never meant to stay as a regular cast member, maybe he only commited to working on the first season...

Either way, I agree it would have been (much) better if his character had stayed. I got used to Douglas eventually, but Denholm was simply funnier. I actually like Matt Berry in other shows though.

I thought so too, but Matt Berry almost instantly made up for the loss. He's brilliant, and somehow managed to be even more of a fruit loop.

It's just a shame Denholm and Douglas didn't have hardly any screen time together.

I did not like his character at all. His style of overacting was annoying and I didn't like any scenes he was in. I'm currently watching the episode where he dies so I can't comment on the new guy. (Haven't seen the entire series yet.)

Chris Morris regularly only does one series of any programme and Matt Berry is far funnier.

Would've liked to have seen more Chris Morris, but I think Deynholm's death was worth it for Douglas' "FAAATHEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRR!!!"

Matt Berry did a great job, but my god Chris Morris owned that role. His delivery of every single line was spot on. What a shame that he didn't stay the entire run, I would have taken his character over Douglas any day of the week (and i thought Douglas was funny, too)

Absolutely correct, Chris Morris the ultimate parody of an insufferable boss, I find that sometimes I actually like Matt Berry which is clearly not how it's supposed to be in a TV series that is basically "The Office" for computer geeks...

I wasn't crazy about Berry, though he had some good scenes. I prefered the original boss much more though.
