Never felt more angst

Wow what a fantastic movie. I was getting worried I might have to abandon it as they're all just chatting endlessly in the beginning but it was actually sucking me in. It's so 'organic', or something. As they're waiting for the semolina to turn up I was just about more panicked about it as they were hehe. The patrons were way too patient though, I'd be sick if all I was served was endless quantities of alcohol as I waited 2 or 3 hours for my meal.

Speaking of cous-cous, I highly recommend a visit to "Chez Bebert" in the Montparnasse district if you're ever in France. Order the cous-cous Royale, it's for as many people you have at the table. You won't regret it, believe. Go easy on the booze though, I prefer it with just hot tea.

I agree it is a wonderful film. The conversation topics range from the banal to the philosophical, while the actors, the music of the language and the camerawork (often hand-held)draws you in to the lives of a rich cast of characters, major and minor. I can see why the loose plotting and lengthy conversations would bother some viewers, but I was transfixed. This is high caliber film making, and I trust the film will yield more upon subsequent viewings.

I recommend the film and this thoughtful, spot-on critique by Wesley Morris:

I enjoyed the topics of conversation, the roaming. And thanks for posting that link!

It's hardly a link. At least no linked link.
