Hafsia Herzi's dance

Does anyone knowledgeable about belly dancing have an opinion about Herzi's dancing?

reply

Well, I for one would loved to have received a hug against her warm, perspiring body ! Hee hee I wanted to kiss her navel so much, but I guess that's the power of dance !

I know it's a year late as far as responding but yeah I do. It was pretty gross for me to try and watch. There's an entire conversation about this on a BD site.

Tabbby it may be a harsh criticism however the question was pertaining to an opinion from somebody with experience in BD on her dancing. I was not giving an opinion on the character's motivation nor was I stating any disagreements with the use of BD.

I was merely stating as a person who regularly studies and watches BD performances my opinion of her movements.

That was real belly dancing. Most Westerners, even those who belly dance, wouldn't know a real dance if they saw one.

Real belly dancing isn't staged, choreographed, with fancy costumes and a big stage. She danced as women have danced for the last 1,000 years. Eastern dancing draws you in - it's introverted. Western dancing is extroverted.

If people would watch this movie without putting their cultural blinders on and expecting it to form around what they think is right.....they might learn something.

"Gross"? Why do people here keep saying that about Hafsia's awesome performance?

Does not compute.

reply

It's an opinion. I didn't think her acting was gross... just the dancing.

reply

If you didn't use words that are typical for 10 year olds or 15 year old mall-rat valley girls, then maybe others would have respected your opinion. "Gross" is "gross" no matter how you try to whitewash it with mealy-mouthed excuses after saying it.

I found it HOT! Probably second on my list of all-time hottest dance scenes after Salma Hayek in "Dusk til Dawn".

It's real belly dancing. Not choreographed. Real movements. Real life music. It was beautiful. She was expressing her joy as a women!

reply

"She was expressing her joy as a wom(a)n!"

Exactly. She was diverting the crowd by simply losing herself in this mysterious, exotic dance. It was so utterly cool, and so attractive. She mesmerized the crowd. She mesmerized me, too. It was a perfect ending, an end that came from out of nowhere. What a wonderful film.

It was gross how interested and close the flute player was to her pussy. It looked like he was going to insert his flute up there and play to get her off..... She looked like she had an orgasm at least

You don't understand the difference between exotic and erotic. Your language suggests you also don't understand the difference between an adult conversation about eroticism and someone who simply wants to be a pig.

I have seen some belly dancers and I have to say she was just amazingly hot. The way she move her belly, the way she touched her hair, her face, Everything.

The girl that found this dance gross can take a look at the mirror and ask to herself how gross you could be.

I'm not knowledgeable about belly dancing, but I thought it was a phenomenal performance. I also have no idea how she had the stamina to continue that way. I do wonder, though, if it's normal to have the musicians, in this case, pretty elderly, playing their instruments so close to the dancer the way they did in the movie.

reply

That dance was hotter than Texas asphalt!

reply

It truly was phenomenal. I read some comments about the size of her belly. Firstly, let's be realistic - most normal women in the world would kill to have that belly. Rym is not meant to be a blonde bombshell, she is is regular girl from a simple town. And despite that, she looked hot!

The belly dance was the best part of this mediocre movie.
Come to think of it i will revisit the movie because of it :)

Amazing performance, but judging from the comments I read from the main actresses in Blue Is the Warmest Color (they said they will never work with him again) I would assume the director went Stanley Kubrick on the poor girl and really made her sweat (as the scene shows too). I wonder just how long he made her stand there working her belly...
