Spotted a goof....

In tonight's episode, Ted (the guy that runs the cafe) has a kinky little secret that entails him smearing butter on his bare toes, then letting his cat licking his buttered toes.

When they portrayed that "secret", they showed Ted coming home from a day at work, going to the refrigerator, then taking out a large tub of butter, then sticking his toes into the butter so as to coat them with butter.

But if you come home to a tub of butter that has been in the refrigerator all day, believe me, that butter will be as hard as wood. There is no way you could just stick your bare toes into cold butter and get them coated, the way Ted did it. (It would take many hours of thawing at room temperature before a tub of butter is softened up enough to be spreadable.)

Obvious goof.

But funny nevertheless.

nu uh you could it wouldn't be "as hard as wood" its spreadable...duh

"duh" my ass! Have you ever put a tub of butter in the refrigerator all day??? And then checked it to see just how hard it is???

>..it wouldn't be hard as wood it's spreadable<

Yeah right, let me call Bulls#!T on that comment. You're an idiot! Have you ever put butter in the refrigerator??? Once chilled in the reefer, it does NOT lend itself to spreadability!! Once in the refrigerator, butter gets hard as hickory!!!

(Many year ago I worked in a restaurant where we had to take the tubs of butter out the night before, just so as to make it "workable" for the next day's menu, where we had to put butter on the side of pancakes and other menu items. Believe me, butter does not spread at all when it is chilled!! Anybody reading this knows intuitively that cold butter is very, very hard! Yeah, go ahead and try to butter your toast with pats of butter from a cold stick of butter that you just pulled from the reefer and expect it to be soft and workable! LOL)

well yes i have. i use butter every morning after its been in the fridge and its SPREADABLE!!

'Butter' hardens up in the refrigerator, 'margarine' does not. It remains spreadable. If the container was a large tub as you describe, more than likely it was margarine, not butter. Margarine is called butter quite often. Not a goof.

reply

Yes, you're right about the difference between cold butter and cold margarin, but, the tub that he pulled out of the refrigerator had "real butter" written on it, so I assumed that it was in fact real butter, not margarine, leading me to doubt its spreadability in refrigerated state.

Ahhh, then much like a visit to a chiropractor, I stand corrected, and say to you, 'good eye' to catch the goof. Butter indeed is quite solid right from the fridge, lest the man had hot toes...
