I really enjoy this show

I've been watching this show lately on History International on Wednesday nights. I am not an archaeologist or even particularly educated in this subject. Until this show, I've never been especially interested in the subjects presented here.

What "The Naked Archaeologist" does well is present the subject in an interesting and---dare I say it---entertaining way that appeals to the layman and presents him with information that he probably would not learn otherwise. From what I can gather, some of the more professional people out there find this to be unsatisfactory, but I don't have any problems with it. Likewise, I've noticed that some people believe the host has an axe to grind in some respect, but I've never noticed that he promotes a particular agenda.

So what we have is a quirky, entertaining, and informative show that appeals to a wide range of viewers. It's hard to find anything wrong with that.

I like it a lot too, and I agree with your comments, though I watch it on Sundays! He sometimes might seem to be passing his opinion as the right one, though it's mostly on things that don't have much evidence one way or the other.

I love that he's so curious and quirky.

Hey, I love this show too! I record all the shows. I’m surprised no one is on this board though. I would have thought there would be a lot of fun biblical discussions. I hope folks find this board because this show ROCKS!

The ones shown on History International are just the same group shown over and over. I guess when the show was originally produced in Canada it had a very limited run.

On the other hand, I believe that it has become quite popular on HI, at least based upon the way it is promoted there. Perhaps it has developed a sufficient following to warrant the production of some new episodes. I'd certainly watch!

I also love this show. As a student of the Bible, it's very refreshing to have a show which provides evidences, information and discoveries based on the Bible. I'm really weary of shows which mock or try to disprove the Bible. This show is excellent!!

I know! This show is so amazing! Not only does it scientifically discuss the important mysteries and controversies of archaeology today, but it makes it fun to watch! It's highly enjoyable, and definitely "quirky." I've always had a love for archaeology, but this show makes me want to get up and start digging! XD

I think this is a great show. I’ve learned a lot about the ancient world in general by watching it. Example: I’d never heard of the Sea People before, let alone that they were from the Aegean/Anatolia area. That blew my mind and I thought Jacobovici was full of garbage. I researched the subject myself and was shocked to find that they really did exist. So if nothing else, this show has got me hooked on ancient history.

I have a great deal of respect and admiration for the scholars that Jacobovici interviews and I understand that they’re job is to rebuild the ancient world from scratch. They use a host of skills such as archeology and the study of language and ancient documents to do that. But what always kills me is that many of the people he talks to shun the Torah/Old & New Testament as even a reference; as if it has completely no value. I enjoy seeing them challenged on that.

I take a lot of Jacobovici’s theories with a grain of salt but to say that the Torah/Old & New Testament has absolutely no historical context whatsoever sounds just as far fetched.

I love this show too! All the rants against it by fundamentalists on this message board are pretty funny too. The show is produced by Vision TV, a multicultural, multifaith network of Canada. I believe the key word is "MULTI" here, folks. As in not one person's or one faith's perspective.

I AM an archeologist (although the Middle East was not at all my field) and find his show fascinating. I have learned so much from this show about Biblical archeology and in a funny, interesting way. A lot more than I learned from my dry archeology textbooks in college, I'm telling you!

I read somewhere that Vision TV has commissioned a third series to start last month (March 2010) but was not able to confirm if this actually started filming. I certainly hope so. Can't wait for my next Naked Archeology fix!

I like the show to.

He talks to people gets ideas and theories, presents his own, and in general tries to give the viewer a decent amount of information about what is going on.

I prefer knowing what they know for sure, less of the conjecture and summation.

I'm surprised there are not more shows.

Yeah, I like how he frames unique arguments and then goes around digging up facts and interviewing people. It is a lot of information, some of which I think he purposefully leaves open-ended, and in the end, the viewer learns a lot and make their own deductions or agree with him.

I like how there are obscure areas of the time period and places he explores. That is what really interests me.
