Based on what Simcha has uncovered, we can infer...
With "Exodus Decoded" and "Naked Archeologist," I think there is a lot of neat historical information compiled, and it has been getting me to thinking.
For one, we know there was a Jewish/Hebrew settlement in northeastern Egypt. They were likely not slaves, but more like folks who integrated with the rest of the Egyptian population (since Yayu was a grandfather to Pharaoh Akenaten). Also, there was likely Hebrews living throughout the rest of the eastern Mediterraenean, even up in Greece.
When Sorini volcano erupted, it displaced a massive amount of people, some of whom went to Israel. I think some of the Hebrews who had migrated to Greece returned to their ancestral home, bringing their metal working technology with them.
To me, this is real fascinating. And it actually keeps making me want to write a book about this. Talk about what was going on up in Greece and down in Egypt, and how the people there were living, interacting with each other, and then what happened when the Exodus/volcano eruption occurred.
