Motive?

I know we never find out the true motive but someone here has any clue about what drove those two kids to kill Pierre? I am thinking jelousy over Lucie...?

I think you might be right... jealousy as a whole was a very strong motive.
Thanks for your reply.

Have you ever said to somebody "I cant explain it, I'll just have to show you" THAT is what this movie is about. Some say the nudity was excessive, others comment on the mystery as to the motive, but both what is shown to you as well as what is left unsaid are calculated to invoke in the viewer the sense of exclusive perfection, envy, desire, and allusions to the fleeting nature of youth and love; all of which can cause great pain in concentrated doses, and all of which come together to answer the unanswered question regarding motive.

BABTIESTE knew that he could never compete with pierre when it came to satisfying his girlfriend (whom pierre had already rejected no less!)
Note the early request to watch pierre have sex and the resulting awkward scene when pierre kept the promise and entertained his girlfriend more than he ever could.

NICK's heart was being stomped on by his boyfriends sleeping around and he knew that he could never compete with others for his affections or become him.
NOte the tattoo emulating pierre's, the long scornfull staring in the background as pierre danced with someone else in the club, and the harsh response to the idea of pierre and him being paid to let someone watch them have sex, even his being with pierre's sister sexually when he admitts its just for show and he doesnt care about women.. all roads lead back to pierre and the hearts he is breaking.

SEBASTIAN knew that he could never compete with pierre for the love of the sister. Like all of the other players, there are many shortcomings in Sebastian when compared to the perfection that pierre represented.

Maybe its a univeral truth in life, but at least in this movie everybody wants something that they cant truly have, with the exception of Pierre, who is killed becuase of it. His sister muses on the posibility of his kamakazi mission to leverage his youth, never loose it, and have everything and want for nothing actually being a success, but I personally think the kid was just lucky enough to be the most socially savey AND physically the best looking person in his particular social sphere. A fantastic combination to have. We all know somebody like that (and perhaps even secretly wish they were dead)and if you dont, It could be that person is you lol

For whatever reason I found this movie hard to shake... It really struk a cord.

I find this a very understandable synopsis of the motives. I was wondering what the motives were, as I figured they would be presented at the end, but I like that the motives are plain as day throughout the entire movie. Thank you for this great synopsis!
