Sabbath of the Colossus

This is something I was inspired to do and tested out. If you go on YouTube, or are awesome enough to own the entire discography of Black Sabbath; begin the song Black Sabbath as Wander initially opens the doors to the citadel. Let it play through. You need to pause at some point due to the dialogue, but the song fits incredibly well. You should start the fast part of Black Sabbath as you begin riding Argo toward the first colossus.

The Wizard should begin just as the first colossus steps on screen. For colossus number two, the bass solo for NIB should start as you're riding down the ramp toward the beast, and if you time it right, the full band will come in as the colossus busts through the side of the cave. I don't have a cohesive colossus to track list yet, but I plan to. Until then, you get the idea...

Ending each boss battle with the end of a song seemed to come naturally for me, but of course, that may take some luck or practice. It's really fun, and you do have to play with the timing of pausing/playing some songs, travel, and slaying a monster.

If or when you get it right, it's an incredible experience. Black Sabbath's music to me is as perfect a blend of darkness, mysticism, and intensity as Shadow of the Colossus. There's nothing like slaying a massive, iron, man to the song Iron Man. The music fits better than I imagine other metal bands would because it is very slow for metal and incredibly rhythmic; often imitating the movements of the colossus.

I've made it at least a good way into Volume 4 and the colossus that crawls along the coliseum. I think I even got to the first colossus that shoots lasers. The pair go hand in hand for much longer than the span of one album, but I haven't done it all the way up to Heaven and Hell or anything like that. I wouldn't really want to get outside of the Ozzy Years anyway. If you don't want the stress or pain of trying to get this right, the two are nice to play side-by-side casually too. Playing the game or songs out of order, just the heavy songs, or just the bosses is still good.

NOTES: Some songs are travel songs. For example, Planet Caravan is slow and mystical, so enjoy that as you are making your way toward a colossus. Evil Woman isn't a very epic song, so that and Sleeping Village are good to play before approaching the Lumberjack (colossus no. 3). I usually start Warning as I start to approach the lake that the lumberjack's platform is above.
The third colossus is another good note because, no matter how often I play through the game, I always get lost on the way to him. If you get lost and a "boss" song is coming...PAUSE THE MUSIC!
There isn't always a travel song in between battles, so it's good to be familiar with the songs before you start to play this. Knowing to pause it if you're really trying to match the bosses with a fight is

Some songs don't fall necessarily on the optimal boss fight. For example, Electric Funeral goes well with the more mellow fights like the Sea Dragon. My big one is pairing Hand of Doom with the bird. I think Hand of Doom fits with the underground boss when you do it right, but it goes excellently with the murky water, certain death, and stop/start that goes with the bird fight (especially if you get thrown once or twice).

Anyway, enjoy! Let me know what you think or if you come up with a good working list with the pauses and everything.
