Toughest Colossus

Which one was the toughest colossus, besides the final one??

I think it was the one that you had to try to flip over using the hot water springs.

reply

I agree that one took me the longest cause it didnt flip untill i was like 2 hours into the fight. Also i thought the last one was pretty easy once you figure it out. The second hardest for me was the flying one in the lake cause it glitch when i was about to get my final attack. Did anyone else have the glitch in that boss were you end up grabbing air and floating?

reply

So far im only on number 11 but the 9th one sucked. It wouldn't go over the geyser. When finally did I would get onto its back and it would turn over and I would go flying in the air like I was shot from a slingshot. It took me at least 40 minutes to beat it.

Stay low boys, keep those feet moving.

That goddamned turtle was so hard, I think I might have screamed at the TV a couple times. I had a wicked hard time with the little wolf colossus, the one you have to scare away with the fire. I didn't see the piece of wood fall onto the ground so it took me over an hour to figure out what the hell I was supposed to be doing.

Oh, and that freaking lizard that climbed all over the walls was pretty difficult. It was a cool fight but it was pretty ****ing difficult.

reply

The turtle colossus for starters, I couldn't get him onto the bloody gysers.
The two small colossi, I hated them so much, I mean, as soon as they knock you down, they knock you out for a little bit, but as soon as you come through, they charge you again and knock you out some more. They beated me a few times like that, so I was finally glad they were dead.
As for the final colossi, I can't complain as I can never climb up past his hand, though, I've only done it once and almost killed him when I fell off by mistake, I was gutted at that.

How dare you get a happy ending! How DARE you!

reply

Most definantely the turtle. I spent half the night trying to figure out how to kill him until I realized the geysers were the key. I've been looking at videos and I'm still amazed at how people can jump off Agro and land on the turtle.

The other was the 15th. It was a pain because I had to figure out the entire arena. I couldn't go to my computer when I got frustrated because it was down so it took me a bit to get it.

I'm gonna get you, like a spaceboy. Whoa whoa whoa whoa!!!

The fifteenth (giant colossus) was a tricky one for sure. I bet at least half of my battle with him was spent running around wondering what to do. Pretty irratating. There really wasn't anyway to figure it out until you get lucky and see him bashing one of the tiles. Or maybe I just wasn't enough of an abstract thinker. But then even when you do figure out what your supposed to do, theres the whole problem of getting on his hand, which is close to impossible. Still, it was a really cool fight. Finally getting onto the bridge was an incredibley rewarding expierience.

reply

It's actually pretty easy to get on his hand. Once he's dropped the meat cleaver, if you just stand a ways in front of him he'll swing his arm down and try to crush you. You just have to dodge it, and than he leaves his hand on the ground for 5 or 6 seconds.

I thought the turtle one was hardest, theres pretty much no way to get him to go towards a geyser so you just have to wait around for him to go to one... took me a while.

The turtle with them stupid geysers. Also the 15th Colossus, I had to jump on his head about 4 times after falling off and not stabbing his weakpoint enough times. I got onto the palm of his hand and stabbed him thinking I was going to kill him only to discover he had a bit of health left so I had to repeat the whole process of getting onto the bridge more than a few times. The small Colossus with the fire was also a bitch to kill. Everytime he charged into you you'd be out for about 10 seconds then when you finally get up he rams into you again. And also the lizard colossus and the flying one over the desert, that took me a while to kill. This game could be frustrating at times but so rewarding when you finally take them down, one of my fave games ever.

Now that I've actually beaten it, I can contribute to the thread.

Everyone knows the 9th one with the geysers was a pain in the arse. There were several times when I'd get that bastard right on top of a shooting geyser, and nothing would happen. Once he moves off of one, it's a pain to get him back, unless you luck out and can just keep him spinning around until it activates again. Killing the actual 9th colossus though, is a pretty easy task once he's flipped.

I kept having problems with my directional jumping on the 16th colossus, but that was just me being careless. Falling to my death probably didn't help much either.

I started tripping when I couldn't get to the 15th colossus' final weak point (right palm), but I wasn't running far enough away from him to trigger the fist slam. As soon as that happens, it's cake.

I thought that the turtlely-spider-like thing (with the geysers) was actually pretty easy. The water one, with the three shelter things, is one of the one's that I found really annoying, and the dragon in the desert, and the one with the meat cleaver. those are the ones that made me shout at the TV.

reply

I hate both the tiger-like ones. The one where you have to jump over and on the ledges, and the one you have to scare with fire.

The one with the geysers (everyone here seems to think of it as a turtle, but he reminded me more of a spider) was infuriating. I'd finally get the bugger over one of the geysers and up in the air, but half the time I couldn't my bow aligned quick enough to shoot his foot.

The scorpion-esque one at the bottom of that cylindrical temple was also a royal pain in the ass. It took very precise strategical positioning for me to be able to knock him off and make it down to the bottom before he flipped back over.

The desert dragon one was rather difficult as well, but only because I found it hard to position Agro and jump off onto the wings.

The sand viper colossus was no walk in the park either.

reply

Hmm,
The Colossus with the geysers wasn't too hard.
One of the hardest for me funny enough was the one before the final colossus.
The one with the sword/club weapon. I just couldnt figure out how to get onto the weak spot on his hand, he took me a little over an hour to do >_>
But now that i fight him again, hes easy ^_^

Actually, if you run down to the bottom before shooting his legs (while he's still up the top looking for you), it's much easier to get more attacks in before he rolls back over. It means you only have to run back up once, at the most. I used this strategy, and it's much more fun and less frustrating.

As to the OP, my most hated colossus was that *beep* sand worm thing. It took me ages to figure out that standing on the rocks and firing arrows at it didn't actually do anything. I was too scared to venture out onto the sand for very long. Also, firing your bow backwards while riding your horse in an enclosed space is not what I call easy, and running into the wall over and over is not fun.

End communication.

I hated the ones where I couldn't figure it out and dormins clues weren't helping. like no.3.
Also i got really annoyed with phalanx because the first time I got on top of him he dived under the sand before i could do anything.
But I'd figured that the geysers would have something to do with no.9 before i'd even found him.

I didn't think the turtle and the geysers were all that hard, just a little tedious. I thought the 15th was the toughest. I did everything wrong in that fight. It took awhile to figure out how to climb the sides. Awhile to figure out how his vital points moved. And it took awhile to figure out how to make him drop his cleaver.

I just want my kids back!

reply

I thought the Geyser one was pretty easy too. I found the snake in the sand extremely awkward, it wasn't much fun at all! lol.

I also found the one who scaled the cylindrical temple difficult. Took me ages to work it out.

aww, poor gamer! there's a rest spot where you can wait and recharge your grip meter on its shoulder. you have to climb to the back fairly quickly and stab the tailbone. then go to the head by going up its spine. attack the head. and you're done.

Ugh, the sandworm.

My best friend and I played the game together and we alternated colossi. I ended up with the sandworm. I could tell he was fast, but I didn't know how fast. The first time I ventured onto the sand with Agro, the worm started chasing me, and I was like, "Uh oh...he's really fast." So I took off and got Agro to max speed, but all of a sudden he hung up on a stupid rock or something. (D**n horse.) I thought, "Oh crap!" and turned the camera angle around to see how far back the sandworm was. Only a gaping mouth with teeth filled the screen. Instant death, and the cheesiest one ever. My bud shames me to this day about it.

reply

What gets everybody thinking that it's a turtle is the fact that it only has 4 legs and 2 eyes and a shell and nothing really linking it to being a spider in the first place.

reply

I found all the colossi pretty easy to beat. I mean, they were never able to kill me, the only hard thing was finding out how to get a grip on them so I'd spend 10 minutes running round dodging their attacks while I figured it out.

Can't remember whether this game had several difficulty settings. Maybe I had it set too easy, as their attacks never really did as much damage as they should for creatures of that size! One stomp with those hooves ought to kill you!

reply

uhhh... 8th or 15th. I hated falling off that sob, and then having to climb all the way back up.

reply

I thought they were all reasonabley easy. well maybe the tiger because you had to jump on all those pillars and have the tiger bash them like dominoes.

it was a bit scary, like you dont want to fall down or anything when you jump.

the sand worm thing took mea while to do, but once i got the hang of riding the horse and fighting it was pretty easy.

reply

Just replaying the game on the hard setting, and finding this difficulty to be just about spot on. If the colossi gets one clean hit in, you're history, so it's very realistic in that way! Can be frustrating, but if you're skilled enough they're far too slow to trouble you.

I found the spider-like colossus difficult to handle though, I just couldn't avoid its projectiles until I figured out I need Agro's speed to dodge them and lure it out towards the geyers.

The armadillo colossus in the colosseum is a pain in the ass on hard difficulty. You can only get in one, maybe two stabs if you're lucky before it rolls over and crushes you. It took me about half an hour to take this clown down!

For me it was the fast one who had the big eyes and traveled under the sand. That was the only one where I caved in and had to look up what to do, not to mention you had to think and act fast
