Losing Excitement

I hate to say it, but I'm becoming less excited about this movie. This time last year, all I could think about was this movie and I'd check these forums every day. Now I check them maybe once a week and I waited a whole day before bothering to see the new clip. In the interest of the success of this movie, they really need to release it soon before it loses any more momentum.

"loses any more momentum" ?

with whom?

Ben,

Are you intimately involved with the film business? Did you know that 4-5 years passed between the completion and distribution of Lost Skeleton of Cadavra? It's certainly not the choice of the producers and director as to when the film is released. It is a very dicey game that requires patience and diligence to be sure that all of the players involved, meaning the creator/director Larry Blamire, and the producers, the actors, the crew and all who love the project are allowed the best possible position for distribution.

It would be wonderful if all of the fans of Larry Blamire and "Lost Skeleton" could take a basic course in film distribution and comprehend that there is no one who is keeping this film from those who would like to see it. It's a negotiation, and it takes time to be sure that everyone wins (or almost) and that the film achieve the greatest exposure possible.

Maybe you would find it interesting to delve deeper into the film producing and marketing world. We all want to see "Screaming Forehead," and it will appear when it is the best moment for that to happen.

While your rant was enlightening I gotta agree. I have been waiting forever for it to be released but honestly I am beginning to loose interest at an alarming rate. when they keep putting off the release date it just kind of makes me go from "cool" to "meh". Seriously. Release the D@MN movie already!

reply

Exactly, and while Animala and WaldoP seemed to disagree with me, I think you'll notice you and I are the only ones who have posted anything on this board for the past several weeks. There was a time when this was a very active board. So maybe I'm not the only one losing excitement here.

reply

"Release the damn movie already." Okay, let's try this again: THE MOVIE DOESN'T HAVE A DISTRIBUTOR YET. One reason it's premiering at the Seattle Film Festival is the hope of landing one. If/when that happens, THEN you can start asking about a release date. Until then, you're just whining to an empty room.

well if you want to see pictures from the movie you can go here...

I'm sure it'll be worth the wait. I don't care how long it takes, I want that movie!

reply

Apparently im NOT "whining to an empty room" since I am not the only one who feels this way. And ultimately we are the ones who are or arent going to buy the movie.

And you can be as condecending as you like. It does not change the fact that I am truthfully getting very tired of waiting and losing intrest very quickly.

reply

Wow! I hate to tell you this WaldoP but your tone is rather condescending. Since I'm guessing you are either a producer or connected in some other way to the film, you should not be talking to Larry Blamire's fans this way. People can't help it if they are getting frustrated. You make are acting like the fans are simply an annoyance.

If you knew anything about the film business, you'd know that if the movie already has a built-in fanbase you'd do well not to alienate them. Speaking to people like they are children does not help.

Ben did make a good point. Instead of poo-pooing him for not knowing anything about the film producing and marketing world, you might try to be a little more positive.

All I'm saying is that you should be nice to the fans as they are the ones who will EVENTUALLY buy the movie.

Hi Guys,
In rereading my earlier comments about release dates and so forth, I realized that unfortunately the written word can come across as harsh - often unintentionally. I am a good friend of the producer, and have worked in the film industry myself for some time (20+ years.) I know how hard she's worked to get this film in the best position possible for the widest distribution -- and it's not an easy task. She couldn't make a distribution deal until after the premiere, and now that that is done -- and went very well by all accounts -- she'll be able to move forward. I guess the bottom line is that the length of time for this film to come to market is frustrating for everyone, and I hate to see Larry's fans losing courage. I really didn't mean to insult anyone. Larry's fan base is very important - and I hope you'll hang in there a bit longer. You won't be sorry -- it's a great film.

reply

Right on WaldoP.

I'm sure all of Larry's fans will be very happy when they have copies in their hands. Nobody's losing courage for Larry, they're only getting antsy, and I'd say that's a good thing. Filmmaking is a tough business, and marketing films- especially indies- is a genuinely hard thing. Yet, having seen the film, I think all the cards are in place and once released it will play extremely well with a lot of people, whether they're in the theater or at home munching popcorn. The real courage now is for a distributor to realize that this film has momentum, and they just need to fan the flames.

I can wait for this movie, i shoot amateur films myself with others, and it is a long process just putting something on a small scale together. I can only dream of getting as far as Mr. Blamire and company got with Skeleton and what they eventually will get with Forehead. It will be worth the wait, and thanks to Mr. Blamire and others who independently have to get the ball rolling on their film projects. Be patient, good things come to those who wait.

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

reply

it's not just about loosing a fan base.... it's about people forgetting and moving on. I KNOW DVD production costs about 2 to $3 per disc to duplicate, just borrow $3000 and dupe 1000 DVDs and sell them on SOME website. Who cares about wide spread distribution if by the time it ever comes out, no one cares and it is forgotten?

I'm sure this movie was not FREE to make, but selling it for $19.95 on your website would more than quadruple your duping investment. Heck, I might even buy it for $25 or $29 due to the fun, the rarity, and finally having a copy.

I have yet to see it, or ANY of Larry's other films beside The Lost Skeleton.
But next year, I will probably have forgotten my interest, not able to find it STILL, and never end up trying to support the effort by buying a copy or three... because they don't exist.

I'll even help out a little:
