Looking for a particular episode

Hi all,
I just watched the Dresden season tis past year, and I didn't think it was nearly as terrible as I'd been led to believe. Yes, it's fairly horrible... but I adore Terrence Mann so it was worth it right there, *LOL*.

Anyway... There is a TV episode I am trying to find, and I don't even know for sure where it came from. At first I thought it was in "Constantine", but have been reassured I am mistaken. The only other simillar show I watched lately had to have been Harry Dresden. So please tell me if this seems familliar.

It involves a little boy who suddenly is being stalked by his teacher. I believe she ends up being a skinwalker. The little boy is adopted and not wholly human himself. I got the impression - in hindsight - that he's some sort of changeling. In the end, there is a confrontation not only with the skinwalker, but the boy's "Natural Family". I think they are crow-type creatures. That's the ipression I got at least.

Can anyone help me, even if this is not from the Dresden Files?

... We are all animals my lady. Some of us simply chose not to see it.

Yes, it was the Dresden Files, S01E01, Birds of a Feather.

The child is human, but he will have awakening arcane power, as Dresden did.

My wife and I are watching the series now, and finding it quite good. There are always a few chuckles, and normally a clever plot twist to wrap up the story.

I started the series because I've been reading the books, and I actually like the TV series better. Butcher tries to push some points beyond the pale in the books, and winds up with poorly staged action scenes ... such as a lightning quick werewolf who takes forever to get from Point A to Point B, when A and B aren't that far apart. Those bugaboos happen in every book I've read so far. Another one is Dresden ALWAYS being completely exhausted, can hardly move, yet summons up the biggest magic yet to save himself. It's a plot device to add tension, but it's getting old.

I'd say some similar problem happens in the books. One moment he's the underdog, the following moment he's the big gun in the room, rinse and repeat. Even though I generally like the books, that's something that bothers me.

And that's connected to what I think it's the biggest flaw in the series (I'm talking about the books): it's goes the Harem route more often than not.

Harem genre is a term which is commonly used in Anime. It describes series and novels where (for some reason) everything seems to orbit around the main character. It usually involves opposite sex characters either falling in love or becoming highly dependent on the main character. At the end of the day, it's a power fantasy. In the novels, the "underdog" Harry Dresden is often an aesthetic makeup, it quickly becomes a knight in the shining armor power fantasy again and again.

I was referring to the books, so we're in agreement. :-)
