Didn't like the original, loved this

The dancing is so much better. I thought there was no chemistry in the first one, but in this one, the chemistry between the leads crackles. I like Julia Stiles, but she can't dance. Izabella Miko can dance like mad. And she's prettier. And I like the guy better. I'm sure I'll be hated for not liking the original, but what can I say. It didn't speak to me. This one was a blast.

When I see two movies with more dancing in the 2nd, I like the 2nd one better most of the time. Izabella Miko could have danced circles around Julia Stiles and Julia Stiles would have tripped on her own two feet. A dance movie like this never could use doubles at all.

I disliked this movie. It had no appeal to me I only watched it when i was bored and the whole time i was like this is nothing like the orginal and the character's traits arent even the same. Sarah in the first movie would never take pills

Izabella Miko did ballet since she was a kid then coming to America she saw more opertunities she quit. We most surely see Izabella Miko in other dance movies after we saw her show off in this movie.

I agree she's prettier but what does that have to do with the acting. Both the guys were great but Izabella...ugh. The whole movie sucked but I respect your opinion!

The first movie wasn't about dancing. The first movie was about relationships-- Sara and Derek, Sara and her new schoolmates/friends, Whites and Blacks, so on and so forth. Dancing was just a side note and I actually prefer that because it had more meaning.

Julia Stiles is also MUCH prettier than Izabella. And I don't like the guy better. The chemistry between between Jilia and Sean Patrick Thomas were great together and they made sense.

What throws me off about Izabella is that she looks so much older than the age the Sara should be. Honestly, in pictures she looks young (retouching I suppose) but she actually looks well into her 30s. She just doesn't fit the part of a young woman.

Maybe you didn't like the first one because you were looking for a dance movie and that wasn't what the movie was about.

EDIT: Another thing that bothered me was that Izabella didn't fit there character of Sara at all. Sara's character was refined, strong willed, intelligent, prestigious, you get the picture. I'm not saying that Izabella isn't those things but the vibe/look that she has is not what the character is about. Julia fit Sara PERFECTLY. Izabella was like a knock off, cheaper version. The movie would have been better if they dropped Sara and gave another character because that's what it ended up being, the same name but a COMPLETELY different character. It just didn't fit at all.

This is my problem with it. That and the terrible opening "interview." I thought I was going to be in for a very, very bad movie.

On top of Julia Stiles being a far better actor, she fit the character perfectly. She has an earthiness about where where you can buy her when she's tough. Izabella, not at all.

This sequel was overall far better than I'd thought it was going to be, and enjoyable enough, but not as good as the original.

I loved both movies. Like many movies, these 2 didn't focus on the dancing itself (they weren't supposed to). It was something that the main characters did, but the pot lines were more about their interpersonal relationships and their process of BECOMING dancers. The same can be said for most sports movies out there.

I personally liked the first one more. I can't get into this one just because the main character isn't Julia Stiles. If it's a continuation they shouldn't use different people. She just doesn't act the same.

im just gonna come out and say it.

this is the worst movie i've seen in years.

and i dont know why anyone would like the second one because the dancing is "better" or there's more of it, because thats what the theatre is for. movies are for acting stages are for dancing. im not saying you cant do one on the other but it blows my mind that some people are won over by some nice beats good lines and well executed choreography. definetly not even close to enough. the first movie used to be literally my favorite movie. now i dont think i can bare to watch it when i know that the story supposedly takes some poorly thought out and predictable turns like Sara being on drugs or the split between her and Derek. Im also lost unto the message of ethnicity and intergration in this movie. Or am I looking too deep into a movie which is merely about DANCE ?? Stop beating a dead horse.

ALSO i know lots of sequels do this, but how could they cast another girl as Sara?!? I find it impossible to enjoy this movie with her replacements horrendous acting. I feel like I could've had more of a resemblence to Julia Stiles and I'm a guy.
