Claire Dane killed this movie, every time she is onscreen, the falling star was such a loathesome character, you would wish Micchelle Pfieffer to cut out her heart LOL

When I glanced at the title of this thread, I thought it said "Claire Danes killed in this movie". Which she did. She is terrific, and beautiful.

Not sure if you were paying much attention during the movie if you think Lamia gave a crap about ruling the kingdom or invading Wall (???). Her aim was eating Yvain's heart in order to live longer and boost her magical powers. Only the princes wanted to find Yvain for the necklace that was the key to inheriting their father's kingdom, Tristran & Yvain had no interest in becoming king & queen & also had no idea that that possibility was even on the table, as Tristran didn't know who his mum was (nor did we) until she told him at the witches' lair, right at the end.

The book is better of course but I like this film and it's a pretty good adaptation. For me, Mark strong's Severus was the standout, although I understand that many people get 'starstruck' by Pffeifer and DiNiro in this.

I'm with YOU!I have never seen what anyone thinks is worth bothering about with this actress.Her English accent is odd and her NOSE and her TEETH are the only things about her that stand out when she's on screen.They should have switched her role with the one of the childhood friend of Tristan who married someone else...she was MUCH more likely to have been a "star" than Claire Danes....yuch!

She was hugely miscast. They should have cast someone with the kind of beauty, charm, and charisma that makes you forgive her everything! Because face it, the character isn't written as terribly likeable.

But I don't suppose they had the budget to CGI the years off of Michelle Pfeiffer for the entire movie.
