which scenes would you remove?

for bad taste I'd remove:
-monkeys raping the dwarf
-car running over baby
some others for sad acting and lack of comic sense
I'd replace them all with more Lucie Guest's perfect curves

I don't like Officer Greg's little rant about foreigners. It should have been more subtle. I love the "glass" thing, but he goes too far with the rant. It felt like a bad writer attempting to exert his personal opinion through a character's dialogue.

reply

uh TeresOfBlood you are joking right? Uwe Boll is not even from the US he's from Germany and has a thick accent. No he was not exerting his own personal opinion.

reply

I know Boll is German. I simply meant that the character's frustration was unwarranted. The other cop says "glass" instead of "glasses". That causes Greg to go on a rant about why he hates foreigners. That should not have been enough to set him off. His rant was just over the top. I'd settle for a *beep* foreigners". Instead we get a stupid, unwarranted, over the top rant.

lol I get the joke. I just think his rant should have been a little shorter and a little less angry (referring only to part in the car).

I'd have to take out the one where Uwe Boll says the kids turn him on, what the *beep*?

Laugh and the world laughs with you. Weep and you weep alone.

i like how you want to remove scenes for "bad taste" yet you refer to Verne Troyer as a dwarf, are you hypocritical or just an idiot?

And about Lucie Guest's "perfect curves", you can get that *beep* for free on the internet, when i watch a movie, i don't want to watch boobs, i want to watch a story unfold and have it shock me or something, look at boobs on your own time, i want to be offended

reply

English is the international language and there are translation problems. I can't get enough of beautiful woman. If they are already teasing me, I say tease me more, and quit mixing rape with humor, once for all.

Just to clue you in, Verne Troyer is a dwarf, the technical name for the medical condition is dwarfism hence dwarf.

Midget is considered derogatory and if you want to be super PC about it then "little people" is the preferred term but dwarf is OK, certainly not massively offensive.

I wouldn't remove the penis flapping sequence. Just cut it down.
And I'd cut the sequence where they're smoking after getting the dolls. It's totally pointless and wasted time where they could have been killing more people or having more sex.
also cut the sequences with that red haired chick, she's pretty much worthless as a love interest.

Extend the Child Shooting Sequence.
Extend all the sex sequences. Every. Last. One of them.
From PD's wife, to the God Job.
Extend Postal Dude actually killing more people.

I Would Take Out The Whole 9/11 Scene At The Beginning Of The Movie. I Also Thought The Cat Silencer Bit Was Poorly Executed. Other Than That This Movie Is The Bomb.

I would remove the toilet scene, not because of the poop noise or Dave Foley penis, but because Chris Coppola's overacting was extremely offensive. Probably the weakest moment in the film.

reply

The only scene id remove is the truck running over the baby stroller. I was pointless and in really bad taste. It would almost work better if the lady was hit instead.

reply

From a filmmaker's perspective, there's a lot of tweaking that needed to be done: jokes that didn't go anywhere, scenes that ended too early, scenes that weren't as well developed....I felt 'Postal' was but one or two rewrites away from being absolutely amazing.

In the case of 'jokes that didn't go anywhere', I would have to remove the whole wheelchair guy/profiteering cop scenes. The concept isn't *bad*, but the joke just isn't funny enough to be stretched out as long as it was.

As far as all the "offensive" scenes, there was nothing I felt should have been removed. The bus hitting the baby, the kids dying, the Dave Foley nudity...what would this movie be without it?

reply

I'd remove everything. You can't polish this turd.

It's not that you have to cut something out to make it watchable, you need content. There's no setup to any of the "jokes" other than ones that were ripped off (the "how many virgins do I get?") or completely trite (Bad guy gets a car dropped on him! Ba-da-crash!)

Bad taste can work, but this is just bad taste for the sake of bad taste.

"Bad taste can work, but this is just bad taste for the sake of bad taste."

As was, arguably, "Pink Flamingos".

True, Boll's attempts at shock came off as no more offensive than what can be seen in most mainstream raunchy comedies (give or take Canadian penises or child slaughter), but I think it still manages to hit the bas taste nail on the head much more effectively than most comedies these days.

reply

This wasn't bad for a Boll movie. The scene with Verne Troyer being raped by the monkey was hilarious. I wouldn't cut a damn thing, if you're going to be offended by this then why the fnck did you rent it in the first place? Funnily the game is banned in NZ, but the movie uncut with an R16 rating. It's refreshing to see a movie like this in today's ultra-PC world. I never thought I'd say this in a million years but I think I'll buy my own copy.

reply

I'd remove the first scene. Then I'd remove the last scene.

And, oh yeah, I'd remove all the scenes in between. ;-)
