For all those who have seen Postal

I have a feeling that the 4.2 Postal received on here is a little unfair because I can guarantee that a lot of Boll haters gave it a 1 without even seeing it. My question to all of you out there who have seen it, what would you say a fair rating is? I give it a 5.8 to a 6.1. I may have liked it more if my friend I saw it with wasn't such a prude.

Feed me a stray cat.

I played Postal and Postal 2 and this is the best video game to movie I've ever seen. I would give it a 7 out of 10. It's hilarious and is exactly what it should be to pay homage to the video games!

reply

Of course, Boll is always rated too low (although he deserves it mostly), while Nolan is rated way too high (nice marketing!).

I hated 'House of the Dead' and couldn't sit through 'Alone in the Dark'. 'Postal' had me in stitches from beginning to end; I could not stop laughing. It was so funny I'm actually considering re-watching HOTD and AITD. Yes, it was THAT funny.

reply

I haven't seen "House" or "Alone" and I stopped after 5 minutes in "Bloodrayne 1".

But Postal... Well the game had little to no story to begin with so that leaves the writers with little source material. The game was nonsensical madness from start to finish.

AS for the movie it's Boll's first to give a viewer any reason to rewatch for it's fun factor rather than to normally criticize every second of it.

Was it good? Absolutely not even worth the paper the script was printed on.

Was it funny? Hilarious at every turn. Even considering the fact it's almost like one huge "Too Soon" joke about the 9/11 tragedy.

I give the directing, writing, and altogether production a 0/10 but the fun, nonsensical hilarity 10000/10. It's just so much fun to watch and laugh at.

There is no such thing as a "too soon" joke. Get over yourself.

"Time is all we have"

reply

If anything, the whole joke was "too LATE".

Had 'Postal' been released in, say, 2002 or 2003 (like the game), it would have effortlessly achieved the edginess/controversy it was going for and then some. By the time it came out in 2008, however, just about every joke (regarding Al Qaeda, Bush, racial profiling, etc.) had long been played out by everyone from 'South Park' to late night comedians, to the point where it was downright tame in comparison. I don't think it hurts the overall film, but it was definitely released a few years too late.

My only problem with 'Postal', though, was with the editing. A film like this should be manic and move at a very quick pace like a video game, but instead it just moves along too leisurely and laid-back (not a good thing for an action flick). Unfortunately, most of that can be placed on Uwe Boll, since he's never been able to handle action scenes very well.

reply

I disagree about the manic pace thing
I originally saw the shortest version available and I loved it but when I saw that a version with about 30 more minutes was available I thought it would kill it, but watched that and it's more hilarious. I love this film, as you can probably guess by my sig below.

Even if you hate Uwe Boll, give Postal a try, be offended or entertained.

reply

Bump. The rest of Uwe Boll movies were very bad, but I really enjoyed Postal and found it hilarious.

reply

hear hear, heck i would give it a solid 10 just because it was freaking hilarious throughout, and to balance out the 'hate-rates'.anyways compared with the ratings of 'similar' movies on IMDb this should have something around 6.5-7.5,but then again i never cared for ratings, good thing too because otherwise i would've missed this one XD

Suck it monkeys, I’m going corporate!!!

I've seen it and 1 is more than fair. Postal is not as bad as other movies made by Boll, but it tries to be "so bad it's good", it tries to be funny, it tries to be controversial and it fails in every aspect. At least in other movies like Alone in the Dark I have a few laughs because you see he's taking himself seriously. As for Postal, there's no redeeming factor whatsoever. It's Boll assuming he's a sh*tty director trying to be Ed Wood.

The only decent Boll movie I've seen so far is Rampage. It's pretty good for Boll's standards, it's like the crew shoot the whole thing while Boll was having a lunch or something. That one deserves a 6/10.

reply

"trying to be Ed Wood" - you just went full retard

Additional fact - I shown this movie to a bunch of my friends, all college graduates, who never even heard of Uve Boll before, and they all liked it and laughed. I bet that you'd liked it too if you didn't know about Uve Boll. Damn hipsters.
