Good film! For those who have seen it,

*****SPOILERS*******

Look away now if you haven't seen it yet.

I had a slight problem with the minister character. (Why does this board have priest written all over it? I spent the whole film trying to figure out if he was a Proddy or a Paip, and decided Proddy in the end, but if anyone could tell me for sure....?)

I thought he was slightly one-dimensional, there was no way to really understand his motivation. It might have been better if he had talked about his years in Africa, or if he had had a friend character to whom he could have spilt out his motivation and ideas. I suppose that was the point, that he had no friends, and was going slightly mad with no other holy people around who could have said "Whoah there, won't you have a nice cup of tea and a good think first?" So I had a hard time buying the murder-of-dad scene. It seemed just a little bit straying into disobeying the ten commandments territory for one who loved his Bible so much. I mean, it's all there and pretty obvious, offing Dad is not a good pious act for a son.

Also what happened at the end? Did the minister survive to the final reel? I would have liked an epilogue sort of a scene.

So much milk!
