Where did you see it?

I just saw it.....I have no qualms about the cast at all, would not have replaced anyone........however, on Gabriel's return to the little town, the movie had loads more potential to be more 'fiery' and better.

in my eyes it had a poor ending.

I want to all men!

I'm from Northern Ireland and I don't see why they placed the story in the 1960's when they could just as easily have placed it in the modern day. Religious small-minded intolerance and staunch conservatism are still very much ingrained into the Northern Irish mentality; it was the last country in the UK to decriminalise homosexuality (in 1982) and when the Queen's Film Theatre in Belfast showed '9 Songs' (once) a local Presbyterian church called it an absolute outrage and called for it to be banned, whilst in Sheffield, where I currently live, the film was shown at the Showroom cinema every day for three weeks up to four times a day without any interference from religious groups (it was the same with 'The Last Temptation of Christ' and 'Showgirls').

Yes, but...

I can't see any preacher controlling an entire town in the present day,
The Church today doesn't have a lot of say in licensing hours,

**spoiler**
And if they're going to murder someone, it's more likely to be somebody that kicks with the other foot than their own flesh and blood.
Hang on, that's way more true of the 1960's than today!

Fantastic film. I wanted to give it an 8.5; didn't think it was good enough for a nine though so I settled on an 8.
