If you all are looking for a more Darcy like character for MM try and find Perfect Strangers. Might be a hard find if you're in the states, but well worth the search.

I'm in the US and purchased Perfect Strangers from Amazon UK. It is coming to Amazon US/Canada (Region 1) September 5, 2006 as Almost Strangers. This is a wonderful film, with Lindsay Duncan, Michael Gambon, and Toby Stephens. The bonus features are dynamite...interviews.

He actually plays a protestant minister -- still technically a priest, I know -- in this excellent film but, given his austere manner, there is not much chance of his character romancing any Elizabeth Bennetts.

Perfect Strangers is available through Amazon.com

If you like great performances, I would suggest you watch 'In My Fathers Den' - thats such a brilliant piece of story telling and MM is fantastic in it.

reply

I agree MM is brillant in 'In my fathers den' He is a superb actor and is very talented. I have watched all his work so far. I am looking forward to seeing him in 'Middlestown' It is great to see him playing different roles. He knows his craft. I think MM is the best British actor around at the moment.

I can't wait to see this movie.! I actually stumbled onto some of the filming at the Ulster Folk Museum in Northern Ireland. They were all very nice, they didn't care that we were there at all. I got to speak with the cast and crew (I got MM's autograph!) and hang outside during the filming of the big fight in the church. Does anyone know if we can get this in the US? I very much want to see it!

Just watched it for Matthew Macfadyen really, but his acting was pretty good in this movie. Gotta love his accent!! Strange movie, but interesting. You can get it on NetFlix.
