Its because people on imdb have biased opinions on films probably before they even see it...I've stopped letting the ratings affect if I watch the movie or not...while this movie wasn't a 10...it was still a 5-6

shareThe movie just wasn't very good. I got more laughs watching Requiem For A Dream. The premise is inspired and interesting, but the screenwriter must've thought too long and hard about it because he forgot to put in the jokes. This movie is a statement that a comedy, no matter how capable its actors or how interesting its premise is, will stink if it just isn't funny.

I hate to say it, but Ice Cube isn't what he used to be... People really liked his early stuff because it was edgy, over the top, stereotypical, obnoxious, foul, and of course funny. His newer movies just seem to be formulaic.

good guy is forgiven and everyone lives happily ever after.
It's almost Disney material.
I am a fan of Ice Cube...It just seems that he's lost his edge. He has become "the guy next door". That's too boring for Hollywood and American audiences. That's why the movie got a 3. I gave it 5 stars. I really thought Katt did a good job and kept things light and funny.

Wow iamoz - you really made sure we didn't miss this person's review, eh? Anyhow, I want to address a couple things. One, I never recall the marital status if Durrell and Omunique being brought into the film. Doesn't matter really, I'm just sayin'. Next, this sounds like something a woman would say:

I agree, I never even pay attention to the ratings in imdb anyway, most of the time are idiots who think the movie is lame but hasn't watched it yet give it a bad review and a bad rating. I really enjoyed the film, I thought it was totally hilarious especially Lee John. I gave it a 7/10. And I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a sitcom that has ice cube in it and a movie that's been released this year.

i was an early Ice Cube fan (rap) and agree that his recent films are a move to safer, more mainstream characters. not that his film career has ever been similar, politically, or stylistically, to his music. this alone shouldn't lead people to write this film off.
it is a bit preachy and cliche, but all up its heart was in the right place.
and the "miscreants!..." line by the choir leader is worth sitting through the entire film for that alone.
i gave it a 5/10.

I actually thought it was good. I do not know why its rated so low. Performances were good, story had heart & not soppy.
