There is no reason for it to be illegal. The United States is 'the land of the free,' right? But hundreds of thousands go to jail each year for a victimless crime.

It's used as medicine, prescribed by doctors, but apparently 'has no medical use?' It's a natural plant that doesn't have to be altered to be used. Humans have cannabinoid receptors in our bodies- with no other use but to bond with cannabis particles- we were meant to smoke marijuana!
Hell, even hemp is illegal to grow, even though it used to be a law that farmers were REQUIRED to grow hemp. Hemp has thousands of uses, there is nothing bad about it, it doesn't get people high, and that is still illegal.

1. Bong Pong- you play like beer pong, with bongs instead of cups.
2. Build a Bong workshop- team members each create a different piece out of clay or glass, like a pipe, bong, steamroller, bubbler, ashtray, stash box, etc. Or build a vaporizer. The judges look for creativity, functionality, and quality.
3. Home Grown- each team creates their best indica and best sativa strain plants, judges are like the Cannabis Cup
4. Taste Test- blindfolded, team members are given buds and they try to determine the strain and flavor by smelling and smoking
5. Ganja Gourmet- contestants make all different types of food with a certain amount of marijuana. Judge on taste, potency, etc.
6. Munchie Madness- an eating contest
7. Hotbox Hero- team members go in a sealed room or fiberglass box that is pumped full of vaporized marijuana. They have a certain amount of indica strain blunts to smoke while in there. Goal is to smoke all the blunts and not fall asleep/ stay in there as long as they can.
8. Smoke Tricks- contestants blow smoke rings and other shapes, ghost face, tornado, mushroom cloud, smoke burp, etc.
9. Mind Blown- contestants smoke sativa strains, then square off against competitors, one vs one. Each person takes turns telling the other person a story, philosophy, or high idea, trying to blow the competition's mind.
10. Arts and Crafts- Teams draw, paint, sculpt, write, make music, videos, etc. (obviously while high) Judge on quality and creativity.
11. Marijuana Marathon- teams hit a joint, blunt, pipe, bubbler, bong, vaporizer, and eat a bud brownie before blowing out any smoke.
12. Parkour Police- you go out smoking in public, find police and blow a hit in their face, then you have to escape by freerunning
13. Security Stash- go through airport security (to or from Amsterdam) carrying a certain amount of bud, hash, and smoking paraphernalia.

Cannabis is a much safer drug than alcohol, and is far less toxic. In fact, cannabis is one of the least toxic substances you can put in your body.
It's physically impossible to overdose on cannabis. There IS a lethal dose but it's so large that in practical terms, you'd never be able to ingest enough to kill yourself.
It also doesn't impair your judgment the way that alcohol does. I might also mention the variety of medical conditions that it treats. It really is ridiculous that cannabis is illegal while alcohol isn't, and that people like you judge a drug by whatever the "Drug Czar" tells them. Did I mention that it's less addictive than caffeine?
Props to mojorecords for breaking it down intellectually. A lethal overdose of alcohol is about 40% blood-alcohol level for an average person. That's about 9-10 standard drinks in less than an hour. I did research on marijuana for an English paper in 11th grade and it takes ingesting over 1,500 pounds of it within about 15 minutes to reach a lethal overdose... sound possible? That's roughly 9-10 million dollars worth of weed... good luck with that.

I've indulged in both many times, and can tell you that what marijuana does to your body is absolutely nothing compared to alcohol. I've never had a weed hangover, I've never been in a bad mood when stoned and I certainly haven't suffered any health problems toking up, either.
I'm not saying pot is a wonder drug (even though it sort of is) but compared to the devastating effects alcohol can have on your body? It's nothing to be concerned about. It's just a shame that there is this unfair "drug" stigma attached to it, when perfectly legal drugs like tobacco and the aformentioned alcohol are much, much worse.

In my experience, the one thing that separates us from animals is the desire for intellectual stimulation. Intellectual stimulation can be achieved many ways, education, entertainment, etc. Without it we would be driven mad.
Drugs (alcohol, caffeine, cannabis) can be used to trigger reward systems, alternate perspectives, or just euphoria in general. I think that drugs positively enhance that necessity for intellectual stimulation when used in moderation. Moderation is key.
Even more importantly, cannabis is very beneficial. It's helped with my asthma, depression, and worldly perspective. I now approach situations with much more logic, understanding, and rationality.
So before you go prancing around with your Holier Than Thou lifestyle ("Oh my opinion is automatically the most valuable and justified because I don't smoke or drink and my farts smell like unicorn dreams"), just remember that there ARE people that do enjoy indulging in mind-altering substances. While you may not particularly embrace the thought of your brain churning its creativity, it gives you no right to automatically condemn those that do.
There are people who don't moderate and go overboard, that's their fault and their problem; and I'm SURE they don't need people like you butting in every moment saying "Well just be like me and don't do any of it".
Maybe now you can see where some people are coming from, besides, even if cannabis WERE as harmful as you make it out to be ('killing brain cells', please spare me the propaganda), life is so short so do the things you want to be doing. It was not in the least bit conducive to "expanding" my mind or learning. In fact, it was counterproductive to my developement.
When my friends continued to smoke after I'd quit was what helped make my decision.
Maybe some people feel better altering their mind with ANY substance, but I don't. I did it, and it wasn't for me. Neither of us can speak for all humans, but I am commenting on more than a minority.
I had my experiences and paranoia and short term memory loss are not my ideas of living up life. I'd rather find other, MEANINGFUL ways to stimulate my mind and mentally cultivate myself than smoke an herb because I'm bored.
You say it's natural and it causes no harm to smoke it, but you don't see people smoking poison ivy or bamboo trees do you? Just because it's natural doesn't mean it's meant for what you think it should be used for, plain and simple.

Well going back to the original topic of this thread: I went and saw Broken Lizard do a comedy act and they were answering questions, so of course someone asked about Potfest, and they said that they were trying to work on it but they kept getting really high and forgetting to write *beep* down. This every well could have been a joke, but if true it does explain why we haven't heard any info about it.
