Mama, do you see what I see? — 30 Century Man US DVD Release 16th June!!

Yes, you lucky people: here it comes!

The heavenly folks at http://scottwalkerfilm.com/blog/ and http://www.oscilloscope.net/shop/view_film.php?ID=8&r=gallery have confirmed that the US Region 1 Scott Walker: 30 Century Man DVD is available for pre-order for release THIS TUESDAY, 16th June. I just ordered mine (so get behind me), along with the brand new film poster (and, lemme tell you, that's a nice poster...that's a swanky poster...), and it came to just over $50 for both, including domestic postage, and I believe it'd still be cheap at twice the price.

I was lucky enough to catch this film twice (same day...bit of an obsessive, me) during its criminally brief run in Portland, Oregon, and cannot possibly recommend it enough, certainly to anyone who already is a Walkerperson, and definately moreover to those who may not yet have encountered Scott's music, but who find themselves always searching for a little substance over style in their musical tastes. To those who are willing to keep an open mind to an open definition of what 21st-century 'popular' music can be (and mind that this is a 'popular' music that, in its most recent incarnations, has far more in common with art songs and tone poems than with anything likely to be found on commercial radio or TV), you shall not likely find yourselves unrewarded by this capsule of the development of Scott Walker from pop idol to reluctant chanteur to the obsessive and unrelenting innovator he is today. It is a impossibly fascinating subject captured by worthy documentors, and there shall come a day when pavements of poets will write of its ecstasies and charms.

So! Go! Get! Glean! Already!

The old man's quite decidedly back again.
