why the hell Hashimoto had such a teenager's haircut? I would understand if it was absurd comedy, but it wasn't, and haircut really looked out of place.

I can't believe I'm actually wasting my time responding to this, i never post, but being a 20-something woman, i have to say this:
I found "the man with the haircut" unbelievably attractive. I basically couldn't read the subtitles while he was talking cause i had to look at him constantly.
So yeah, it might be pathetic - but damn was that man good looking.

I believe he was well-put together for one reason.
In the end, he checked his reflection off some sort of case, saying he wanted to make sure he looked like this when he died. Also, during the movie at some point, he did the same thing while in the investigation room/office where they monitored the boy ghost.
Clearly he had planned it all out and was just trying to piece the puzzle together of how he can become a ghost. Then he failed.
