A question: driving me nuts!

What was up with the issue the main dude had with his mother? All the "Do you hate me?" stuff? Why was he so sure she hated him? The subtitles said that he at some point stated; "Is it my lifestyle?" or something like that. Was that a correct translation or BS?

Because that one line with all the "do you hate me mother?" made me think that he was gay, and that was the source for the issue between them. Also, the "girlfriend" saying; "I love you, but I can't make you happy."

And yet, he did state near the end of the movie that he would change his life and be with her...

I got really confused at that. And if it wasn't that he was gay, what was it? Or were we just not supposed to know?

I'm wondering the same thing. Also, why did he act so negative, angry and bitter?

Really confusing.

Almost wanting to learn the language just to figure out if the confusion is due to bad translating or if it was just a confusing movie.

Thanks for answering, even if you were as confused as me. I'd begun losing hope anyone was even visiting this board, lol.
