Someone can't do math......
LOL.. the plot summary says "30 years ago Ray saw his parents killed....."
Well... in the beginning of the movie.... the date says 1982... so that +30 years would be 2012 and this movie was released in 2006.
Plus ... the kid they depict in the beginning looks to be about 12.... so 30 years later he would be 42. In 2006 Jerry O'Connell was 32.... pretty far out stretch to ask us to believe he was 42.
My guess is... whoever wrote the plot summary either can't do math or fat fingered the key board
