and I forgot what she said about Smithy.
Jane acts like a teenager but does not look like one..so I'm a little confused about her age.Maybe 11 ?

I consider most of the ages of the characters that I've found online to be a bit iffy. I mean, let's face it, Smithy is NOT 14.
IMHO, the ages for the characters are roughly around 12-13 for Pepper, 13-14 for Rake, 14-15 for Jester and Gunther, 15-17 for Smithy, and 14 for Jane.

LOL, I agree though (well, not about Pepper's 'developments') Pepper seems a little more mature. More simple-minded than Jane, but I suppose more of the traditional "young lady of the middle-ages". She seems too mothery over everyone (to eat) to be younger than Jane (who's 12 officially, right?) So, I'd put her around 14 as well.... Dunno, I kinda thought they were all a bit older than 12... like, 16 or so. (I thought they were just silly because it was a kid's show, but I guess they're silly because they're young...)

But they all had to grow up a lot faster then. A girl could be married off at the age of 14, if not younger.
Qubo.com's Pepper bio states that her dream is to have a large family, so it's really not surprising that she's a very motherly type.
They all look waaaaaaay older than 12. Especially the guys. Rake strikes me as the youngest :P Pepper looks way older than Jane.
sharei have only seen a few episodes...most of the ages people stated seem ok to me,but smithy seems like an adult...maybe in his twenties.based only upon what little i've seen of the show,of course.if i knew more about the characters,i could judge better.but by appearance alone,that's my guess.

Kids matured a lot faster back then. They were all sent off to trades at like ages 8-10 or something like that.
According to the timeline on the official site, Jester and Smithy were born in the same year, then Gunther and Rake a year later, the Pepper and Jane the year after that.
So if Jane is twelve, so is Pepper; Rake and Gunther are thirteen; and Smithy and Jester are fourteen.
