Why in Hindi alone?

I watched this programme on Youtube, bits and pieces.. Well i appreciate the effort and the singers are definitely awesome.. But i don't get the idea behind singing hindi songs. We know there are many ethnic groups in India speaking various langauges, why constraint to hindi alone? Were the auditions held all over India like how America does? I have no clue. Anyone care to enlighten me..

Once again I do not mean to offend anyone here, its just a question coz i always thought these idol competitions often conduct their competitions in the language English.

yea, auditions were done all over India but i'm guessing since Hindi is the national language, only people who could speak it could participate? good question though. i mean, india is such a big country and people speak so many different languages. im sure there are some amazing singers up in north india or down in south india with amazing voices but they cant participate 'cause they don't speak hindi. that's just what i think tho. sorry if im wrong. : )

Well dats pretty sad coz I feel not everyone is given a chance then... And that is why many countries generalize the competitions to be conducted in English. That way everyone participates. Perhaps India should also consider about giving these opportunities to everyone. I doubt if they went all over India to pick talents, if they had they would have obviously been aware of all the various ethhic groups speaking various languages. Perhaps if they want to continue with the language Hindi alone, then they should change the title of the programme to Hindi Idol at least, and not generalizing to Indian Idol. Coz if a scenario arises that south india also wants an Idol show then they can name their idol show as Tamil Idol, Kannada Idol, Telugu Idol and so on.. Well it may sound a bit odd but this is what happens when we only stick to our comfortzones.. Once again I am not pulling anyone into a fight, its just my honest opinion.

yea, they should do it on a regional bases. i mean, thats kinda why sandeep won instead of karunya (thats what i think) 'cause north india is "bigger" than south india. you know what i mean. lol. i know, this is just my opinion. i hear you though. its not wicked fair but what can we do?

reply

Haizz i obviously cant do anything sitting in Singapore.. Perhaps just a thought. The singers were really good. Kinda sad when none of the ladies made it to the top coz they were really good.. Think 1 or 2. I enjoyed watching the clips on youtube.

When Hindi has become the national language of India?? Hindi is one of the official languages of India such as bengali, telegu, tamil and malayalam. Don't assume things which you are not sure about.
