Lol @ the acting of the bombers.

Howard and Gooding Jr aside, we all know the acting of the main cast of black dudes was pretty terrible. But how about those bombers? Oh man, they make the main cast look like Oscar winners! Were they literally reading off of cue cards or something? I actually had to rewind the movie at one part to watch and listen to their lines again because I was sure there was something I missed it was so completely awful. There's bad acting (main cast), and then there's the most dreadfully terrible acting I've ever seen, and those guys delivered. In a strange sort of way, their terrible acting was the most entertaining part of this dreadful movie.

That's a pretty common opinion here. Those lines were very poorly delivered and also not a good fit with history. In fact a central theme of this fictional movie is that the USAAF needed a fighter unit that would stay with the bombers. If that was actually true, the USAAF would only have needed to change the orders of existing units. Policy was for some squadrons to chase the enemy and destroy them, while other squadrons would remain with the bombers.

Live long and prosper.

Some of the black actors didn't do too badly (although a few did play their roles as pretty demeaning caricatures).

However, the acting from the white actors in the B-17 flying scenes were among the worst I have EVER seen from a major motion picture. Shockingly bad.
