To those bashing the films

Shut the F up
Its meant to be a FICTIONAL RETELLING not a perfectly true story.
They tried to make it more fun instead of a depressing real life story about amazing ppl.
Yes the writing was meh and Terrence Howard's acting was... UGH but I still find it to be an enjoyable film
No reason to be so harsh on it

I can't speak for the others bashing it, but I was disappointed. Being an optimistic fan of Lucas and his endeavors, I had hopes for this but the result is a failure. Lucas tried too hard to have a simple story, and spoke about it as if race was the issue for not getting studio backing for years, only for this to come off as a lackluster effort for a subject that deserved better. Lucas's pulling of the race card was embarrassing, as he reached out to a specific audience and failed it. It was as if to say this is the best he could do on this subject. Fictional or factual, there are so many missteps. The pilots were buffoons and drunks--that is not helping. It was like a TV movie (and a second place one at that) and this should have been done with a more epic approach, with the hiring of a more capable director.

And you know otherwise? What Lucas said was that those in power the money weren't interested in telling the story.

Yet how many stories are told about the female or black and brown experience in WWII?

reply

Whether it is intended to be a fictional retelling or not, it's an awful film. Horrible, lifeless, wooden, stiff acting; the most banal dialogue; a plot that was so formulaic and utterly predictable--those are the reasons this film deserves to be treated harshly.

reply

Its poorly acted, badly written and visually very underwhelming with so many untruth incidences that the true story it portrays is buried under a mountain of cliched nonsense..
The Tuskegee Airmen told the same story as Red Tails and is miles better than Lucas poorly made film..

reply

Its an ok film but the script was rather cliched and the actors were left foundering with a lacklustre script.

Its that man again!!

reply

I'm not bashing it because it's inaccurate, I'm bashing it because it sucks. Tuskegee Airmen was a far better film on a far lower budget, they could have taken a page out of Markowitz's book & made a movie that didn't suck.

I like the way the OP tells others to "shut the F up." That is like intellectual check-mate.
